Chosen One: Part Fifteen

Buffy paced the floor in Willow’s room as her and Xander sat on the bed quietly. They’d never seen Buffy so angry and the fact that Angel wasn’t healing like he should be.

"Buffy, just sit down. You’re making me nervous with all that pacing.” Willow said in exasperation, but she understood why Buffy was upset.

"Angel’s not healing, and he’s the only one who knows where Spike is hiding. So I can’t so anything and that makes me pace. Plus, I don’t know how Kathlin is doing, and luckily, my mom went out of town for an art thing, so she doesn’t know about Kathlin, yet.

"But I’m afraid of what she’ll say when she comes back.” Just then, the phone rang. Willow went tiredly to answer it, and as she talked, she seemed to jolt. She held the phone out to Buffy.

"They want to talk to you.” Buffy put the phone to her ear.

“Hello?"

"Buffy?” a voice questioned softly.

"Kathlin, is it you?” she said in awe.

"Yes. Look, I have to go, but I needed just to call you and thank you for helping me. I’m…I won’t be coming home anymore. I’m sorry, but goodbye."

"Kathlin, wait. I just need to know one thing: Where are you?” The voice laughed quietly.

"Buffy you know I can’t tell you that. All I can tell you is that I’m happy and I’m safe. Goodbye.” The dial tone stung in her ear. She looked towards Xander and Willow, who were waiting for an explanation.

"Was it Kathlin?” Willow asked hopefully. Buffy nodded, close to tears.

"She said she was happy and that she was safe. I think she’s staying with Spike.” At this, Buffy collapsed into tears. Willow and Xander helped her onto the bed, where she still kept crying. Willow looked to Xander, “I think I’d better call Giles.”
