The Angel of the Opera: Part Six

The night was still young when they reached the Angel's lair. The boat folded down on it's own to make a bed. Buffy was tired and scared. The Angel began to sing a strange yet calming and soothing lullaby.
"Night-time sharpens
heightens each sensation.
Darkness wakes,
and stirs imagination.
Silently the senses
abandon their defenses.
Helpless to resist
the notes I write.
For I compose
The Music of the Night.
Slowly, gently
night unfurls it's splendor.
Grasp it, sense it-
tremulous and tender . . .
Hearing is believing
Music is deceiving
Hard as lightning
Soft as candlelight.
Dare you trust
the music of the night?
Close your eyes
For your eyes
Will only tell the truth
And the truth isn't what
you want to see.
In dark, it is easy to pretend
That the truth is what it ought to be.
Softly, deftly
Music shall caress you
Feel it, fear it
Secretly posses you
Open up your mind
Let your fantasies unwind
In this darkness which you
Know you cannot fight
the darkness of
the Music of the Night!"

The Angel's voice made Buffy sleepy, and he rocked her gently.
"Close your eyes
Start a journey,
though a strange new world.
Leave thoughts of world you knew before.
Close your eyes
and let music set you free!
Only then, can you belong to me.
Floating Falling,
sweet intoxication.
Touch me, trust me
savor each sensation!
Let the dream begin!
Let your darker side give in
to the power of the music that I write.
The power of the Music of Night!"

The voice of the Angel made Buffy brave enough to touch his mask, and gently stroke it. The Angel led her over to a glass mirror with a sheet over it. The Angel whipped the sheet off, revealing a wax doll impression of Buffy, wearing a wedding gown. Buffy tried to touch it, but it fell over. Buffy fainted into the Angel's cold arms. He carried her over to the bed and laid her down. He pulled up the covers.

"You alone can make my song take flight.
Help me make the music of the night!"
