Sandy's destiny: My cousin

by lieselot

My Cousin

That night was so bizar, I still don't know who that woman was, and it was three nights ago.
I haven't seen her since.
But I did see my cousin again, and now I know she's really my cousin, and I have a family.

It was dark outside, and it was only seven o'clock. I hate the winter, it's always cold, and the sun is never shining. It should be summer forever. Then people can never get cold, and we'd always be warm. Yeah, that would be great.
You see, that was what I was thinking the day I saw my cousin again, cause when I'm scared, or something weird is happening, or I just don't know what to do, I think of the weather. It calms me, for a second.

So, it was seven o'clock, and I was thinking of the weather, keeping quiet; untill she came.
I was sitting in the recreation room, looking out the window.

"Hi. How have you been ?" I heard someone say behind me.
I turned around, and there she was, my cousin, I still thought she was a fake.
"I'm good." I answered very cool. I didn't want her to know that I was scared about all these things that were happening in my life. But she didn't believe it.
"So, you're not scared or anything ? Cause if you are, it's okay, it's okay to be sscared, it just means that you're human."
She smiled at me, but I refused to smile back at her, so with an abrupt movement I turned my head. She sighed. But she didn't give up, she sat down beside me.

"When I was about your age, I discovered something out about my mother. About the way she died." I turned my head to her, I never knew her mother was dead, I thought she was one of those people who had a perfectly normal family, I guess I was wrong, very wrong.
"Yeah, my mother's dead. She died when I was 8 year's old, I never even knew my father, I was raised by my aunt. But the point is, when I discovered that thing about my mam, I was scared too, really scared, I never felt so scared and alone as then. And I think that that's what you're feeling too. Or am I totaly wrong ?"

She kept smiling, and she was right, I didn't want to admit it, but, she was right.
I didn't say anything, I was frozen. She stood up, smiled, gave me a piece of paper and said :

"My adress is on the back, you can come when you're ready."
As she turned around I stood up and asked her one quistion.
"What was your mother's name ?"
Her face froze, she didn't want to say her name, you could see it was painfull for her.
"Buffy, Buffy Anne Summers."
