TRUST YOURSELF: 1
by Spikes Queen
“No, Finn is his last name,” Buffy said, into the receiver.
Behind her, Spike had another attack. He barely registered the fact that Buffy had stopped talking on the phone.
Buffy saw the pain he was in and went over to him. “Spike?”
He looked at her. “I’m fine.”
Buffy rolled her eyes and took his hand. “No your aren’t,” she said taking him to the couch.
Spike managed a small smiled before another attack hit him and he screamed in agony.
Buffy pulled him into her arms, not knowing what else to do, and cradled until the attack subsided.
By the time the attack passed, he was laying on Buffy, his pillowed on her chest. She was running her fingers through his hair, whispering to him.
“Pet, lemme up,” Spike said. “I’m bleeding, and I don’t want any of it on you.”
Buffy allowed him up and she went to the kitchen to grab a damp towel. She found him holding his head to keep the blood from going anywhere.
She carefully moved his hands and cleaned the blood form his nose. “You okay?” She asked.
“Buffy I don’t think we can wait,” he said, looking at her.
“Maybe we can do something,” she said, running upstairs.
“I can try,” Willow said, coming downstairs with Buffy.
Spike tried to sit up but his head was splitting. “Willow?”
Buffy straddled Spike and held his shoulders. “This is gunna hurt but Willow is gunna fix you. You’ll feel better. Just trust me,” Buffy said.
Spike nodded.
Willow put her hands on Spike’s head and chanted. Spike began to scream but after a few seconds it stopped.
“Spike?” Buffy asked. When he didn’t answer she began to get worried. “Please, wake up.”
Spike shifted and his eyes fluttered open. “Buffy? You okay?” He sat up with her still in her lap.
Buffy nodded and smiled. “We took the chip out.”
Spike’s eyes widened. “Buffy, I know that the chip was misfiring, but taking it out could be really bad.”
“No.” Buffy looked at Willow and she went upstairs, while she looked back at Spike. “Do you trust me?”
“Yes,” Spike answered.
“Then believe that I made the right choice,” Buffy said. “Besides, I trust you.”
“Buffy, I’m a vampire. How am I gunna stop killing people?” Spike asked, quietly.
“If you love me, you won’t kill. And your soul. You are a good man and I’m glad that you’re here.” Buffy gently ran her hands across his face.
“Buffy, I love you with all my heart and it didn’t stop me from hurting you,” Spike said, guiltily.
“That doesn’t matter anymore. I. Trust. You. All we need is for you to trust yourself,” she said.
“I don’t think I can,” Spike said.
“You love me, right?” Buffy asked, raising his eyes to hers.
“Yes,” Spike answered, softly, tears in his eyes.
Buffy kissed him gently. They only pulled away when Buffy need to breathed.
“Listen, go up to my room and get some sleep,” she said, getting off him.
“Buffy,” he said, unsure if he should listen to her.
“Spike, that cot is no where close to a bed. Go sleep in my room,” she said. “Don’t argue with me.”
Gently she pulled him to his feet and took him upstairs. It took a little while but she finally got him in bed. It wasn’t long before Spike was sound asleep. Buffy smiled at his peaceful face and joined him. She curled up next to him and slept as well.
