The Vampire Kidnappings: Foreboding

by Psyche2

A/N: Woo Hoo! I updated! It's been a while...sry about that. Oh and by the way there is slight spoilige for Queen of the slayers in this chapter and the upcoming ones...just a warning! Okay enjuy and Review and thanks for the ones that do!

It felt like a blow to the head. One minute she was crouched down on the ground, having just slew another vamp, when she heard whoosh and then blackness. Now she was who knows where massaging her temples and blinking at the stars around her. The room was small with no windows and the only illumination came from a crack in the wall. From the light from the crack Buffy could see a door. Well that was obvious… She got up from the uncomfortable position and walked over to the door. She looked around to make sure there was nothing that was going to pop out and then opened the door. Obviously whoever had put her here wanted to get her out of that room as soon as possible and into the other one. She walked through and came to a long dark hallway. There were a few doors on one side of the hallway and nothing else on the other. She checked the first one. Nothing. She went to the next one. Nothing. Finally she came to the last door at the end of the hall and she opened it. She walked through and the door slammed shut behind her.

“Welcome.” A voice said from the shadows.

“Oh god.” Willow said as she took in the picture.

“I think we found out what happened to Buffy.” Cordelia said.

“Where is she? Who did this?” Xander asked he had started pacing around the room.

“Check the book.” Oz said.

“What? How is that going to help?” Xander said.

“It was inside the book so it must be significant.” Oz told him.

“Oh, good idea.” Xander said.

Giles put the picture down and picked up the book.

“The Vampire Kidnappings originated in Rome after a man by the name of Court Dominas became a vampire. He gathered up a group of men and turned them then went to the Hellmouth in Rome. They tried to open it up by sacrificing themselves but that didn’t work. So they waited a hundred years and decided to kidnap people and sacrifice them. That didn’t work. Court went to a sorcerer and found out that to destroy the world he must do a ritual. Which was The Vampire Kidnappings. They had to fight each other after bathing in a drop of every player’s blood. In doing this energy was collected and used as an offering. What they didn’t know is they had to this a couple of times so they can get the energy right. The vampires, after realizing that Court mislead them, killed him. The Vampire Kidnappings became a game. The vampires were to kidnap vampires all over the world, train them, and then fight. In the year 1999, it will be time to destroy the world.”

Giles read. After he looked up and everyone’s faces were grim. Except Cordelia’s who looked kind of bored.

“So what does that have to do with Buffy?” Cordelia asked.

“I have no idea.” Giles said putting down the book.

Angel picked up the book and flipped through the pages he stopped on one page. His eyes widened.

“Care to share with the rest of the class?” Xander asked him.

Angel placed the book down on the table and showed them the page. The title read.

The key to the Kidnappings: Slayers.

Cordelia gulped. “That’s what she has to do with it.”

“Oh God were all going to die aren’t we?” Lindsey asked freaking out.

“No were not. We just have to figure out a way out.” Buffy told her.

She regarded Cassandra. “What exactly did you see?”

“Like I said before. Images.”

“Of what though?”

“Us dying a couple of times.” Cassandra said.

“Us dying a couple of times? What do you mean?” Lindsey sniffled.

“Well…I don’t know I guess we don’t stay dead or something.” Cassandra shrugged.

“Oh god, I told you! We’re going to die. Those vampires are going to kill us!” Lindsey said and she started crying.

“No, Lindsey. Lindsey? Listen to me.” Buffy said as she waited for the girl to calm down. “The first rule of slaying is don’t die. Okay? We’re going to make it through this.”

Lindsey nodded and took a deep breath and Buffy couldn’t shake the feeling of foreboding that she felt. She couldn’t get the thought that if they were strong enough to get potentials and herself here than maybe, just maybe they were strong enough to kill her.

It was getting close to morning and Angel didn’t sleep. He kept reminding himself that Buffy was ok and that Giles would check in, in the morning. And that Faith was in her cell. The officer he had talked to had assured him that no one was getting out and Angel was pretty sure the guy checked Faith’s cell to see if she was still there. But that feeling stayed with him. The feeling he used to get in Sunnydale a lot. But now it just seemed his senses were on alert. He almost reached for the phone but the thought that he was just being paranoid stopped him. He stayed in bed for a good half hour or so before getting up. He good almost smell the coffee.

“Good Morning?” Cordelia asked as she sipped some coffee.

“No, I didn’t sleep at all.” Angel replied getting some blood.

“I can see that.” Cordelia answered.

“Morning.” Wesley said as he came in from the office looking worse than Angel felt.

“All nighter?” Cordelia asked.

“No, I mean umm…yes.” Wes answered pouring himself a cup of coffee.

“What’d you think I meant?” Cordelia asked but then shrugged and took another sip. “You two need to lighten up. I mean Slayers have gone missing before. Buffy did for that short time after she killed Angel so…there you go the one girl could have just broken up with her boyfriend or something. Just because she’s a slayer doesn’t mean that she’s dead or something. I’m sure there’s nothing to worry about.”

Wesley rubbed his eyes and yawned. “Yes well you may be right.” He was about to take a sip from the coffee cup again when the phone rang. Wesley picked it up and said, “Hello?”

Cordelia rolled her eyes. “You’re supposed to say Angel investigations. How can I help you?”

“Yes Hello Giles. What? When? Nothing? Oh, right. She didn’t? All right. I’ll tell them. Yes I got it. Yes. I’ll call you back. Goodbye.” Wesley put the phone down. He had a grim expression on his face.

“What?” Cordelia asked. “What is it?”

Wesley looked at Cordelia and then looked at Angel. “Buffy’s missing.”
