Part Five

Ladies Room of the Bronze:
Buffy walked in with Willow right behind her. Amazingly there were no other girls in the restroom with them.
“Was I right,” Willow asked standing near a mirror as Buffy leaned on a sink, “you gave me the “secret meeting” look right?”
“You got it,” Buffy said as she breathed in and signed, “so what do you think?”
“About Trevor,” she asked.
“Yeah”.
“Well he seems real nice, but after Faith…” she trailed off biting her lower lip and looking at the floor.
“I know,” Buffy said as she leaned back up off the sink, “its going to be hard to trust someone after her”.
“Yeah,” Willow replied quietly as she still looked at the floor.
“I’m sorry,” Buffy said putting a hand on her shoulder, “I’m always making you talk about her and I know you hate it”.
“No really its ok,” Willow said looking up and feigning a smile, “no pencils to lodge into trees this time.” Buffy gave her a smile as she walked over to the mirror and adjusted her hair for a moment.
“So how do you think we should approach it,” Buffy asked her deciding just to let the Faith thing die a natural death, “Should we talk to him?”
“I think we need too Buffy,” she said as she put her hands in her pockets, “I mean what if he got hurt with no one to back him up.”
“I know I wouldn’t have made it without you guys plenty of times.” She said remembering adventures past.
“Why don’t you talk to him,” Willow told her slayer friend, “a one on one sort of thing.”
“Good idea,” she said as she walked to the door, “but I’m not going to do it tonight, maybe tomorrow or when I can get a good chance to talk to him with out interruption.”
“Yeah that would probably be the best thing, we don’t want to gang up on him or anything,” she said following Buffy out of the bathroom, “ we should be gang up free and timing perfect.” With that they made there way back to the group and sat back in their seats.
10:45 p.m. The Bronze
The Scooby Gang seemed more then content with their break from the usual discussion of vampires, demons, and other such wholesome topics. With Trevor being there they couldn’t talk about the usual vampire stuff which actually made the evening that much more enjoyable. Plus the fact that Amy still wasn’t totally in the know of some stuff about the Slayer and her Slayerettes. So for hours they sat there talking, joking, laughing, listening to bands, and just having a good time.
“Hey it’s getting late guys,” Willow said as Xander finished making everyone laugh with his Principal Snyder impersonation.
“Yeah and tomorrow is Friday, T.G.I.F,” Xander exclaimed as he stood up.
“Big fan of Sabrina the Teenage Witch Xan,” Buffy asked with a grin.
“I love that show,” Amy and Willow spoke up at the same time and then giggled.
“Can’t imagine why,” Oz commented with a grin. Trevor just looked at all of them not getting it and then decided it must be some inside joke of theirs. The all stood up and walked out of the Bronze as a big group. Outside they all stood together as they figured the best way for everyone to go home.
“Well I could take everyone in the van but it would take forever to get everyone home,” Oz said as they walked and gathered around his van.
“Yeah why don’t you just give Willow a ride and I will walk…” Buffy began as she noticed Trevor standing over next to Amy and Xander and paused, “…home with Xander to be safe.”
“Uh ok,” Xander said realizing that Buffy was bending the truth a little on account of Trevor, “That’s me, White Knight at your service.”
“I’m hoofing it too,” Trevor said to the group as he put his hands in his jacket and the others began chit chatting, “My car is getting a new windshield so I’m stuck as Joe Pedestrian for a few days.”
“What about you Amy,” Buffy asked wanting to make sure she got home ok. The streets of Sunnydale were not exactly places you wanted to be late at night.
“I’m just going to walk,” she said as she turned to look at Buffy and pointed, “it’s only a few minutes that way.”
“Hey that the same direction I have to go,” Trevor said with a smile as the others continued to chit chat, “Would you like me to walk you home? I’m good company.”
“Sure,” she said smiling at him, “We better get going though.”
“Yeah all of us need to,” Buffy said as she walked up next to Xander.
“Bye guys,” Willow said as she and Oz got in the van and he cracked it up and waved as they drove off. Buffy and Xander waved as they also said goodbye and walked off and Amy and Trevor followed suit and each group went there separate ways.
“So where are you from,” Amy asked him as they walked to her house.
“Brooksville,” he said as he walked next to her every so often looking around, “it’s in Alabama.”
“Never heard of it,” she said as she shivered a little bit from the cold night air, “of course I’ve never been to Alabama.”
“You still probably wouldn’t, it was…” he paused briefly and for just a moment his face seemed full of grief, “…is a small town.”
“Oh,” she said pretending not to notice as she again shivered.
“Are you cold,” he asked her as he looked over at her.
“Just a little,” she replied wrapping up in her own arms.
“Here,” he said as he took off his black leather bomber jacket and placed it around her.
“Oh really you don’t have to,” she said smiling up at him as he wrapped her in the coat.
“It’s nothing,” he said as he finished and smiled back, “besides what kind of an escort would I be if I let you freeze?”
“Thank you,” she said to him as she walked a little closer to him.
“Really it’s nothing,” he said as he walked a little bit closer to her and mustered up the daring to compliment her. “Besides I don’t want the guys of Sunnydale trying to kill me for letting one of the cutest girls in school get a chill, get sick and miss school on account of me.”
Amy blushed at the compliment. She grinned as she put her hands through the sleeves.
“Well I just hope that by going without his jacket the cute new guy doesn’t get sick either.” She said as she smiled at him. He seemed to blush when she said that and Amy thought it adorable.
“So your friends with Buffy and the gang,” he asked as they walked, “I didn’t see you at school today.”
“Oh, yeah we hang some” Amy said as she frantically tried to think of an excuse, “I’ve been out sick a lot this year.”
“All the more reason to have you wear my coat.” He said winking. She smiled back at him.
“So you live by yourself you said,” she said making idle chitchat.
“Yeah,” he said as the took he prepared to tell her his rehearsed story, “My folks died in a accident a few years back and I got a ton of insurance money, enough for a small home, fixtures, and collage plus what I save in the bank helps too.”
“I’m sorry,” she said as she beat herself up inside for asking such a stupid question, “I must have missed that part back there.”
“No it’s ok,” he said to her as they passed a corner shop, “It’s all in the past now.” She brightened back up as he said that and they walked a few more feet.
“So why Sunnydale,” she asked him as she looked at him and her dyed brown hair tresses fell in the cutest way to Trevor’s eyes, “I mean there is nothing really here to make you want to move here.”
“Well for some reason property is real cheap around here,” he said as they neared Amy’s house, “It also reminds me of my old hometown.” He looked at Amy again. “Plus it has some beautiful things to look at.”
She blushed and grinned as she stopped in front of her house.
“Well here it is,” she said as they walked up to the front stoop, “thank you for walking me home.”
“It was a pleasure,” he replied. There were a few moments of awkward silence as they both waited to see what the other did.
“So…” they both went at the exact time and then laughed.
“I don’t suppose you would like to go see a movie with me and have dinner sometime would you,” he said as he stood and shifted nervously, “That is unless you’re seeing someone.”
“Oh no I’m single,” she said speaking up a little to quickly for her liking, “and I would love to, how about tomorrow night?”
“Sure, that sounds great.” He said smiling ear to ear just like she did too.
“Here is my number,” she said as she took out a slip of paper from her purse and a pen and wrote her name and phone number. She handed it too him and he then took a piece and her pen and wrote his. “Call me sometime.”
“You can count on it.” He said still smiling, “and my lines are open for you twenty four seven.”
“Great,” she said smiling. Again there was an odd moment as she opened the door. Neither knew what to do. Hug? Kiss? No not kiss they both thought.
“I don’t think I’m up on the end walk protocol,” he said jokingly.
“Um…a hug,” she asked kind of nervous.
“Sounds good to me,” he answered also nervous. They took each other up in their arms and held on for a few moments. Trevor could only think about how good this felt and how nice her hair smelled. Amy could only think also about how good it felt and how gentlemanly he was and she loved that about him. They parted though neither seemed to want to.
“Oh I almost forgot here is your jacket,” she said taking off the jacket and handing it back to him.
“Thanks,” he said taking it in his hand, “see you at school tomorrow?”
“You bet,” she said as they said there goodnights and she shut the door. One word popped into Trevor’s mind as he looked at the piece of paper with Amy Madison wrote on the top and her phone number underneath: YES.
12:56 a.m. Sunnydale Graveyard
Reggie had left the other vampires back near City Hall. He detested listening to Mayor Wilkins boss them around. He didn’t see why they bothered to take orders from him anyway but he had to admit the mayor was far more stable then Spike had been. Reggie’s long black overcoat draped behind him as he walked and ran his fingers though his course blonde hair. He was big and muscular and had broad shoulders. His figure was truly imposing. He had yet to face either of the Slayer’s and was eager to prove himself, even if it was only for his own benefit. He prided himself on being tough and never having been beaten in a fight even before being brought over. He mused about being a master himself someday, and ruling over legions of vampires. He was so deep in his thinking that he never noticed the figure sneaking up behind him. Nor did he even know what hit him when the metal pole the figure had connected with his skull.
1:15 a.m. Sunnydale Graveyard
Reggie awoke; he was groggy and had a splitting headache. He was laying flat on his back as opened his eyes and saw stars. He tired to move and found he was tightly chained down apparently on top of a grave slab.
“That was fast,” Reggie heard a voice say. He was able to move his head just enough to see a young man in blue jeans and a black leather bomber jacket at the end of the slab with one foot propped up gazing down at him with an icy cold glare.
“Who are you,” Reggie snarled putting his game face on and struggling to break through the chains. The chains easily held him down. “You little bastard, I’m gonna feast on your insides when I get off this thing.”
“Name’s not really important,” the figure said as he reached in his inner jacket pocket, which gave Reggie a better glimpse of the young man’s bight yellow shirt, “and what do you mean when?” A malevolent grin came across the young man’s face as he pulled out a small vile of clear liquid. A look of horror came across his twisted face as he realized that it was holy water.
“Um come on man can’t we talk about this,” Reggie pleaded.
“Oh were gonna talk, your going to tell me all about the Mayor’s right hand girl,” he said as he opened up the vile and threateningly held it above Reggie. He walked to where he held it just above his face. “Aren’t you?”
“Y-you mean Faith”, he asked as he stuttered with fear, “The Mayor will kill me.” Trevor, the young man, let just a few drops fall on Reggie’s face and he screamed in pain as his skin boiled and smoked at its touch.
“Oh your gonna die,” Trevor told him coldly as he kept threatening with the holy water, “the only question is whether I just stake you quick and painlessly or give you a shower here with the holy water.” Trevor then let a full trickle of holy water fall across the face and neck of the vampire. Reggie’s screeched out in pain as what felt like liquid fire rained down on him. The burning and the sizzling of his skin when on to him for hours it felt like but had really only had been a minute or two.
“Ok, ok”, he said crying, “I will talk, I will talk.”
“Yes”, Trevor said in a tone that made Reggie think of Drusilla, “You will, when I’ve had my fun.”
“W-what, come on man please,” Reggie was in tears from the sting the holy water left, “I will tell you where she stays, where she goes, and she was even told to go kill that red headed friend of the Slayer’s”
“Oh I know your going to tell me all that,” Trevor said sounding more and more like Drusilla to Reggie. The vampire was terrified of this man, this human. He was quaking in dread and sobbing like a child. Whoever this man was he wasn’t like the Slayer and her friends. He recalled stories from survivors of fights with the Slayer. This man was dark and cold. The screams filled the night as Reggie told Trevor everything he knew about Faith and Mayor Wilkins. Trevor never even asked a question.
