No More: Part 3

I don't own Buffy. Joss does. I don't get paid for this story. However, I did come up with Shelly and Karos. Other writers can use them if they want. Be my guest.

"Here comes Trouble"

Everyone was in their usual stations. Giles was at the head of the table, his nose in a book. Willow was at the computer, laughing and giggling about something with her werewolf boyfriend Oz. Xander was sitting across from them, waiting for someone to say something so that he could make a dumb joke. Buffy sat at the foot of the library table, where she often sat as Giles rambled on about another evil prophecy for her to fight, or critiqued her fighting stance after a workout. Buffy thought that this seat would soon belong to someone else. She also noticed that Cordelia was no where to be seen.

“Xander.” Buffy called. “Where is Cord...” she was cut off by a dark hair girl who abruptly entered the library. “I’m here!” she yelled across the room. “Mr. Rupert Giles? It’s me!”

“Y-y-y-you must be the new Slayer. Barry out of Baltimore....um... told me,........ you’d be arriving. Welcome to Sunnydale.” Giles stood and greeted her.

“Yeah, you must be Giles. Barry said you’d be a stuck up Brit with a stuttering problem.” The girl responded. “ I’m Shelly.”

“Barry was,....was always free with...his opinions, I suppose.” Giles kind of retreated backwards. “This is Buffy, the former slayer, and her friends, Xander, Willow and Oz.”

“Buffy, it’s a pleasure to meet the slayer who slayed the master. You almost reached legendary status. Too bad you screwed everything up and lost your powers.”

Buffy just stood staring at this girl in shock. THIS was the new slayer? She was so rude. So not right for the job. “Hi.” Buffy mustered.

Xander pushed his way between them. “I’m Xander, like the G-man said, and I’d be happy to show you around the Hellmouth.” Shelly gave Xander a flirting look, encouraging him on. “I know, I haven’t faired well with dating vampire slayers in the past, but I’m looking to correct that problem forthwith.”

Shelly smiled. “You don’t stand a chance Romeo.” she responded, and walked by him.

“Okay, I’m done with asking out Vampire Slayers.” Xander retreated much the same way as Giles did.

“I’m going to make this quick. Home room starts soon.” Giles stated taking charge of the meeting. “This isn’t going to be easy on any of us. This is the first time in history that a slayer has been chosen for any reason other then the death of the previous slayer. We’re not sure exactly how this occurred, just thankful that Watchers picked up on it in time to prepare somewhat.”

Shelly giggled, then leaned over to Willow. “I know exactly why it occurred. Buffy over there dropped the ball so someone else better was chosen for the job.” she whispered. Willow didn’t find the comment amusing.

“Buffy,” Giles continued. “I’m not sure where you fit into all this. I thought you may stay on for a while, maybe as a, um.., a consultant of some sorts for Shelly. Show her the ropes. Give her the benefit of your experience.”

“Sure.” Buffy said quickly.

“If I take advice from her, I’ll be out of a job too.” Shelly whispered to Willow again. Willow gave her a mean look, but Shelly ignored it. The bell rang. Giles dismisses the group. Shelly bounced off to class, while the rest of the group drugged along behind her. It was going to be a long year.

On the outskirts of Sunnydale, a familiar bleached hair vampire explored an old abandoned mansion. The sight of a terrible murder, and rumored to be haunted, no one ever kept the mansion very long. Spike looked around, noticing the structure and architecture. He had it with warehouses and other such uncomfortable living quarters. He wanted a place worthy of such glorious creatures such like himself. “Yes, yes.” he said with accent. “This is perfect. Quite a home.”

“It’s taken!” A voice from off to the side boomed.

Spike turned around, contorting his features from his former handsome self to the demonic gaze of a vampire. “Well, I’m putting it back on the market.” spike hissed.

The figure stepped from the shadows, an older looking man, except he had snarl of a vampire as well. He was dressed in all black with an overcoat on. He was very distinguished looking, as if he was use to being in power. “Now, now, Spike. It’s a big enough place. We could be,....how do they put it?... Roommates.”

“Karos, you bloody devil you. What are you doing in Sunnydale? And if you say ‘to kill the slayer and open the hellmouth’ then I’m going to do her a favor and kill you for her.” Spike said amused.

“Ah yes, Buffy the vampire slayer.” Karos put his hands behind his back and paced. “Words gotten around about our little pest. I heard how she cheated death and killed the master. She even killed my sire, Lothos, in Los Ageles. She’s really been a busy body. That’s why I’m here. To make her, JUST a body.”

“Heh, heh” Spike chuckled. “As clever a play on words as that was, you just don’t get it. I couldn’t kill her. The Master couldn’t, Angel couldn’t get it done, she blew up the bloody Judge! If you think your going to waltz right in here and snap her neck then you..”

“But that’s exactly what I’m going to do. You see Spike, I have a secret weapon. It took me a year to acquire it, but I have the way to kill the slayer.” Karos grinned.
