No More: Part 2

by Freddy

Buffy is property of Joss and his associates. Buffy doesn't belong to me. I don't make any money for this, and I don't expect to. This is just for fun.

“Welcome home”

Willow and Xander dragged Buffy to her feet and dusted off her shoulders. “Are you okay?” Willow asked.

“I hurt.” Buffy responded. “I guess you guys know about me and my lack of vampire slaying abilities.”

“Yeah, Giles told us about three weeks ago.” Willow conceded. “Where have you been! We’ve been worried sick about you!”

“In hiding. I don’t know. So much happened three months ago. My mom kicked me out and I was a fugitive. I didn’t want to endanger you guys anymore, so I ran.”

“Nice hair.” Xander cut in with a completely unrelated comment. “Red, I like it.

“My disguise.” Buffy curled her finger through her hair. “I figured if it works for Willow, it could work for me.” Buffy noticed Willows shorter haircut. “I like your hair Willow.”

“How did we get from fugitive Buffy, to hair?” Xander asked confused.

“You brought up hair.” Buffy informed him. “Am I okay with you guys?” Buffy asked nervously.

“Yeah, why not?” Xander answered.

“I thought you guys might be mad at me for....just for everything. From the moment I met you until now. I’m sorry.” Buffy dropped her head. It was obvious to her two friends she was in a lot of pain.

Xander wrapped Buffy up in a hug. “Buffy, it’s okay. We would never trade you for a normal life.” Willow joined the hug. Buffy gripped them both tightly. Finally something had gone right since her return to Sunnydale. Xander pulled back from the hug. “Have you talked to your mom yet?”

Buffys’ mom opened the door. Out on the front porch stood Xander, Willow, and behind them, a long lost familiar face. “The strangest thing happened Mrs. Summers. Will and I were out on a walk and look what we found.” Xander said. Joyce looked at Buffy. Tears welled up in her eyes and a smile appeared across her face.

“Buffy!” The two hugged each other without hesitation. They apologized at the same time, then laughed. The group went inside for the reunion. Buffys’ mom brought out sodas for everyone and they sat comfortably down.

“Before you say anything Buffy, I want to let you know that Mr. Giles filled me in on everything. He told me the details about the vampires, and the slayings, and Kendra and Angel. I’m so sorry for how I reacted when I first found out. I wasn’t there when you needed me the most. That will never happen again.” Joyce poured her heart out to her daughter.

“I’m sorry to mom. I...., I could have handled all of this better. I never tried to tell you. I just wanted to protect you, and that’s the only way I could think to do it.” The two clasped hands. Buffy turned to her friends. “So Giles has been covering for me, huh.”

“Yep.” Willow answered. “He’s gotten you back into Sunnydale and everything. He’s done a lot of smooth talking over the summer.” Buffy laughed at the thought of Giles as a smooth talker. It felt good to laugh.

“Speaking of Giles,” Xander took the floor. “We’re supposed to gather in the library before home room tomorrow. We’re meeting the new slayer.”

The smile faded from Buffys’ face. “The new slayer.” she repeated.
