No More: Part 1

by Freddy

Buffy the Vampire Slayer, her friends and her enemys belong to Joss. They do not belong to myself. I make no money for writing this. It's all for fun, and so far it has been fun.

“Powerless”

“ Buffy!” The normally reserved school librarian and Buffys’ watcher stood straight up from the book he was reading when the slayer walked into the room. “Whe-whe-where have you....are you okay?”

“I’m fine.” Buffy said with reassuring but empty smile. “Is it okay for me to be here Giles? I don’t want to get you in trouble.”

“Trouble? Oh yes. Um, no, the police no longer consider you a suspect in Kendras’ death.” Giles looked down. “Although running didn’t help prove anything.”

“I’m sorry,....I just didn’t know what to do.” Buffy shrugged her shoulders and sighed. “How is everybody?”

“Buffy, there’s something that you should know.” Giles sounded rather grim. “You, you’re no longer the slayer.” Giles blurted out with unusual directness.

“What?”

“I’ve talked to other Watchers. We’re not sure how, but signs say that your powers are now pointing in a different direction. We think you’ve been, well......., replaced.”

“What?!”

“And according to these signs, she is scheduled to arrive in Sunnydale for school tomorrow.”

Buffy turned around, took a few steps toward the door and stopped, not sure what to do or think. “I think I need to go.”

“Buffy, I don’t know what to say...”

“I think I need to go.” Buffy ran out the library door. She ran out of the school. She found herself back on the quiet streets of Sunnydale. ‘How could this happen?’ She screamed in her mind. She felt she had been ready to come back, to make everything right. Now she had been thrown a curve ball. She was no longer the one girl in all the world with the strength and skill to kill vampires. That power had been somehow taken from her and given to another. She stopped running in the park. She leaned forward, putting her weight on her knees. She was breathing hard. She was breathing hard way to soon. The first sign of empirical evidence that her slaying days were over. She plopped down on the ground, pulled her knees up to her chest and cried.

She sat there motionless for awhile. Her mind was blank, but then the memories crept up again. She blocked them out. She didn’t want to think about it. Could things get any worse? Then she heard a growl from behind her. She jumped to her feet and turned around. There in front of her stood a vampire. Just as ugly as any other and just as evil. She pulled a stake from her jacket and the two collided in combat. The vampire easily overpowered her. It took her stake and knocked her down. “Lets see how you like having a stake through the heart.” it hissed sarcastically. It raised its arm in the air, ready to bring the stake down.

“Back off dead boy!” Xander shoved a cross in the vampires face. It stumbled backward away from her. It got up and growled angrily. Another cross came from another angle. “Yeah!” Willow held the cross with authority. “What he said!” The vampire stumbled again, fell, got up and ran.

Xander reached out a hand to help Buffy up. “Hey Buffy. Did you miss us?”
