Bad Boys Are...: 6
by Ksue
The next morning everyone gathered in Buffy’s room, except Spike. He was spending the night in jail until his parents could bail him out. The doctor wandered in, looking over Buffy’s chart.
“Good morning. I trust you all got hardly any sleep?” the doctor smiled. The whole group laughed nervously. Xander wrapped Willow in his arms and Darla sat on the edge of the bed, holding Buffy’s hand. Angel was sitting in the chair next to her bed, his face in his hands.
“Are you waking her up today?” Angel asked.
“Yes. She remained stable all night and her body should be ready to handle everything. We’ll inject her with an intravenous fluid to help wake her up. It will raise both her blood pressure and her heart rate, but by insignificant amounts. She will slowly wake up over a span of about ten minutes,” the doctor explained.
“Thank you, Doctor. We really appreciate you helping her,” Willow muttered. The doctor nodded and walked out of the room.
“God, I hope she’s okay when she wakes up,” Darla sighed. She stood and began pacing the room.
“She’ll be fine. I just hope she sees what a bastard Spike is and dump him,” Xander spat, grinding his teeth.
“If she doesn’t, I’ll do it for her,” Angel said.
“How?” Darla asked.
“I’ll kill him,” Angel growled.
“Angel, you aren’t serious. We’re all mad, but you wouldn’t really kill him,” Willow stated.
“Actually, I would. He doesn’t deserve to live.”
“You don’t get to decide that! The only person who decides who lives or dies is God!” Willow shouted. Angel shoved his chair back and stood up, causing Willow to back away.
“If he comes near Buffy again, God is out of the picture. I mean it,” Angel promised.
“Angel, you sound like you’re in love with her,” Xander pointed out.
“I am. I realized tonight that I can’t do it without her. I love her more than I ever thought possible,” Angel admitted. The doctor came back in and held up a syringe of light blue liquid.
“That it?” Xnader asked.
“Yep. This is what’s going to wake her up.” The doctor stuck the needle into her iv tube and they watched it drain into her skin. They stood in strained silence for ten full minutes. All of them were nearly holding their breath, waiting. Slowly, they could hear the beeps on her heart monitor quicken. Her eyes fluttered and she moaned. Then she shifted, ever so slightly.
“Buffy?” the doctor asked, laying a hand on her shoulder. Buffy groaned and opened her eyes. Everyone released an audible sigh. The doctor took out his pen light and flashed her eyes, testing the reactiveness.
“Buffy?” Angel asked, sliding his hand into hers.
“Angel?” Buffy asked, her voice raspy.
“Yeah, sweetie, it’s me,” Angel smiled, kissing her hand.
“I’m thirsty,” Buffy whispered. Angel looked at the doctor.
“I’ll get her some ice chips.” Angel looked back to Buffy.
“Do you remember, Buffy?” Willow asked, sitting no Buffy’s other side.
“Spike, and a crash. We were fighting. He had been...drinking. I can’t remember after that,” Buffy whimpered.
“It’s okay, baby. You were in a car accident. They had to put you to sleep for about a day, but you’re fine. You’re gonna be fine,” Angel whispered, tears forming in his eyes.
“Spike?” Buffy asked.
“He’s in jail. His parents have probably already bailed him out,” Xander commented. Before the sentence was out of his mouth, Spike appeared in the doorway.
“Baby, I’m here,” he said. He moved to her side, motioning Willow out of his way. Angel glared at him.
“Angel, can I have a minute with him?” Buffy asked, looking at him knowingly. The doctor came in and handed her a small cup of ice chips.
“Sure. I’ll be right outside,” Angel promised, leaning in and kissing her forehead. Spike glared back.
“Buffy, luv, I am soo sorry. You have no idea. Can you ever forgive me?” Spike begged.
“Probably not, Spike. Do you know how hard it is for me right now? You come in here and act all concerned. You tell me you love me and that you only care about me, but it’s not true. None of it is. If you did, you wouldn’t do half of the shit that you do. You wouldn’t drive me home while you were trashed. You wouldn’t make out with other girls, which I know has happened before now, by the way. It’s extremely hard for me to tell you this. I want you to leave, and I never want to see you again. If you come anywhere near me or mine, I’ll file for a restraining order. Do I make myself clear?” Buffy finished, pulling her hand away from Spike’s.
“Yes,” Spike whispered. He nodded once and stood slowly, looking at the floor. Then he turned and walked out. Angel came in a few moments later.
“What happened?” Angel asked, sitting on the bed next to her.
“I broke up with him. I’m sorry that I didn’t listen to you, Angel.”
“Shh, honey, don’t worry about it. All that matters is that you’re all right,” Angel murmured, hugging her tightly.
“I am. And ow,” Buffy laughed. Angel gasped and let go of her.
“Sorry!”
“IT’s okay, I’m just kinda sore,” Buffy smiled.
“Buffy, I have something to tell you. Something that we need to talk about,” Angel admitted.
“What? You know we can talk about anything,” Buffy prodded.
“I love you. More than I thought. When I got that call, Buffy, I thought you were dead and I couldn’t stand it. I can’t live a day of my life without you. I’m in love with you, Buffy.”
“Oh, Angel. I love you too,” Buffy said. This time, she hugged Angel tightly, nt caring about the pain that was stabbing her chest. Angel kissed her hairline, her cheek, her nose, and finally, her lips. He kissed her deeply, with the passion of a man starved for love for too long. They held each other tightly for a long time before Willow knocked on the door.
“Angel, do you mind if Buffy and I chat?” Willow asked.
“No, not at all. I’ll be in the hall,” He nodded. Buffy smiled and nodded as he walked out.

A few days later they released Buffy from the hospital. Angel carried her out and to his car, even though she insisted that she did not need help. Her parents wouldn’t be reachable for another few days, so she was going to stay at his house.
“This could be dangerous. These two love birds alone in Angel’s romm?” Xander joked.
“Oh, stop Xander. I get more worried about you and Willow. Angel and I have been in this situation a million times,” Buffy shrugged.
“Yeah, but you’ve never been dating,” Xander pointed out. They all laughed and no one noticed Spike hiding in the shadows. He watched, relieved that Buffy was okay. His heart ached for her and it killed him that she was happy with Angel. He had almost seen this coming, although not in this chain of events. He’d bide his time, and then win her back.
A/N: Hope you all liked it! Tell me!
