Buffy RPG: Part 10

by Monkey Pants

Seeing Angelus standing there brought new and unexpected feelings. Her heart raced, and she felt achy, like any other time she saw her soulmate. Her vampire companion noticed her discomfort, and smirked. Buffy could almost see the cogs working in his mind, foreseeing her inevitable demise at the hands of his 'master'

Well, she wasn't going to play ball.

Swiftly, she thrust her stake into the vampire's chest, and flew from the mouth of the basement without checking if Angelus had seen her.

Now was not the time. She couldn't face him. Not yet.

'Oh my god and so you just LEFT him there?' shrieked Cordelia in disbelief. 'How am I ever going to feel safe?'

Buffy slumped against her locker miserably, surrounded by Cordelia, Xander, Willow and Oz. The firealarm had been a success. Snyder was livid - naturally - and was certain that he'd find the culprit by the end of the day. Meaning Buffy was probably facing unfair detention. Again.

'Well, she killed that vampire. he was the one who kidnapped you, right?', pressed Willow.

Buffy sighed. 'But it was probably Angel's planning. And I let him get away with it. God, how can I be so stupid?'

'You weren't stupid, Buff. You just wasnt to plan this better. You can't go around thwarting big bads in the high school basement. Where's the poetry?' offered Xander.

''I think it's poetic', shrugged Oz.

'Well anyway, how am I supposed to SLEEP tonight knowing he could, like, leap out on my any minute?', Cordelia shuddered dramatically.

'You've invited Angel in your house lately?' asked Willow quickly

'Well, no-'

'And your car's safe since that spell, right?'

'Yeah, but-'

'Well, as long as you're chaperoned outside your home and car for a while, you're safe!' smiled Willow.

Cordelia stared at her coldly.

'I'm going to see Giles,' Buffy said at last. 'He'll know what to do'

****************************

Giles cleaned his glasses in silence. Buffy hated it when he avoided eyecontact.

'Giles?', she said softly. 'I'm sorry'

'Good Lord, sorry for what?', he smiled, putting his glasses back on.'Failing to fall for Angelus' trap? I believe that you did the right thing in that context'.

'I should have killed him there, Giles', she muttered bitterly, 'I mean, I could have taken him by surprise. Put an end to it. And I couldn't do it. Seeing him there...'

She looked away. Giles coughed awkwardly.

'Buffy, maybe a good training session is required after school. It may aid you in more ways than one.'

She held in her breath for a moment. She needed to train, if only for half an hour. But if she went to the basement straight after school, she may still have a chance. Angel. What if he was still there? But if she trained, then it was likely that he would have left amongst the shadowy student body.

She returned Giles' look, her mind set.

****CHOICES****

1) Train with Giles after school

2) Look for Angelus in the basement after school.
