Kate is standing in the doorway of her apartment looking blank, a man is standing in front of her, with blond jelled up hair, dark eyes, wearing dark jeans and a light blue t-shirt:

Man: Is there something wrong, don’t you recognise me ?

Kate: Who are you ?

Man: Kevin, your brother………..well half brother.

Kate: I’m sorry, I don’t have a half brother, you must be mistaken.

Kevin: No, I’m positive it’s you.

Kate: What’s your last name ?

Kevin: Lockley!

Act 1

Kate is still looking blank at Kevin and doesn’t know what to say:

Kevin: Please, can I come in and we can talk about this.

Kate: Sure, just go and sit down over there (she points to the couch)

Kevin: Thanks.

Kevin walks over to the couch and sits down, Kate shuts the door and walks over to him:

Kate: Do you want a cuppa tea or something ?

Kevin: Tea would be nice, thank you.

Kate walks into her white walled kitchen and boils the kettle:

Kate calls over to him: So how come I don’t know about you ?, I mean have we ever met ?

Kevin calls back: yeah once, but we were 3 or 4 I think, I only found out about you from dad, I mean our dad, is he here in Sacramento with you.

Kate walks in with a bad look on her face holding two cups of tea:

Kate: Kevin, there’s something you should know about dad.

Kevin: What? Is he ill?

Kate: No, he died just over 4 years ago.

Kevin: what? Who did….how did it happen (a very sad look creeps up on his face)

Kate: He cut himself along the neck, he died of blood loss in the hospital (but we all know she covering up because he got bit by two vampires in Angel season 1)

Kevin: No one told me, I hadn’t seen him in over 8 years.

Kate: Is your Mum still around ? Mine died when I was a little girl.

Kevin: I’m sorry, and yes she is still around, she left our dad when I was 6, I haven’t seen her since.

Kate: That must be horrible for you.

Kevin: Not as bad as you, you have lost both your parents.

Kate: Yeah it’s bad, I thought it was the end of the world when mum died, then I thought it was the end of me when dad died, but I got through it, and now I can help you get through it.

Kevin: Even though I haven’t seen him in a long time, the last thing he said to me was telling me about you, he said one day he would tell you about me, but I guess it was to late.

Kate: Yeah

Kevin: Where is he buried ?

Kate: In Sunset Cemetery in LA.

Kevin: I’ll go there, I’ll leave now.

Kate: I can go with you if you like.

Kevin: No, I’d rather go alone if that’s ok.

Kate: Of cause.

Kevin: See you later.

He walk’s out the apartment.

Kate: Bye.

Act 2

Kevin is driving in his car, and comes through the city of LA, he gets to the out-skirts of the city and sees a sign saying: SUNSET CEMETERY.

He pulls over and looks around, it’s a quiet area, the early morning sun is beaming down on the grass. He gets out and walks through the gate of the Cemetery.

Back in Sacramento, Kate is down town on routine patrol, she walks past a gang hidden in a dark shaded ally, but thinks nothing of it, she carries on walking past the busy street full of people and cars. She stops when she hears screaming from the ally she just passed.

Meanwhile Kevin is walking through the Cemetery looking for his Fathers grave stone, he knows he should be berried in the police area, with all the other dead cops so he looks there, a few minuets later he comes to it. He stops and stairs at it for a while, then kneels down in front of it.

Kate runs into the dark ally:

Kate shouting: Sacramento PD, Freeze!

Her eyes widen when she sees five vampires feeding on a woman who owns the shop next-door, Kate doesn’t move (she knows there not on fire because of the ally is giving them cover of the sun). She closes her eyes and starts having flashbacks to Angel biting her (from the Angel episode ‘The Shroud of Rahmon’) and another flashback to her dad getting killed by two vamps (from the Angel episode ‘The Prodigal’). She opens her eyes and charges at the vampire, but she is to late, the woman is dead, but she carries on running at them.

Kevin is still kneeling down by his fathers grave:

Kevin has a tear rolling down his cheek: How could you leave me dad, why did you have to go…..(more tears fall down his face)…..I loved you dad…….

He reaches out to touch the grave stone, but when he does so a demon smashes into it and bits of the grave stone spread everywhere:

The demon is red all over with blue eyes and wearing brown rags, he jumps at Kevin.

Act 3

Kate Kicks the first vamp in the face, and then punches vamp 2, she’s grabbed from behind by vamp 3 and vamp 4&5 run at her, she lifts up her gun a shoots seven times at the vamps, it doesn’t kill them but it sends them back on the floor, she elbows the vamp holding her but vamp 1&2 jump on her, she screams while the others jump on her, but then a dark figure jumps down from the roof of the buildings.

Kevin is pushed to the floor by the demon, it isn’t very strong and he pushes it off:

Kevin: What are you?

The demon just looks at him and jumps at him again. Kevin shouts out when the demon bites into his shoulder, he pulls out from his side pocket a pen-knife and slashes the demon across the side, it jumps off him and Kevin gets up, looks at it and then runs to his car, holding his shoulder at the same time.

The dark figure kicks 2 of the vamps off staking them after, then it lifts up the other 2 throwing them against the wall of the ally. Kate is shocked and shoots the other vamp on her in the chest 3 times, the figure stakes the 2 vamps against the wall then dusts the one on Kate, it holds out a hand:

Figure: Are you ok?

The figure is dressed in dark jeans with a very dark purple top and brown mountain boots, with dark brown hair and bright blue eyes.


Kate: Yeah, I’m fine, who are you ?

Figure: I am you saviour.

Kate: Yes I know that but who are you? What are you doing here?

Figure: I heard screaming so I came here.

Kate: That’s great but who are you? And why is your leg bleeding?

Figure: My name is Groosalugg the brave and undefeated champion………but you can call me Groo.

Kate: I would prefer to call you Groo anyway, why is your leg bleeding?

Groo: I just faced a Kiaca demon, very strong and very big.

Kate: you should come back with me, I’ll get you patched up.

Groo: I would like that.

Epilogue (conclusion)

Back at Kate’s apartment the door opens, in walks Groo and Kate:

Groo: This look’s like a nice home.

Kate: It’s great, it’s kept me living here for the last three years so there must be something good about it (she laughs). Please sit down, I’ll just go and get the bandages.

Groo sits down on the sofa and Kate walks into her bathroom.

A few minuets later she walks back in holding disinfectant cream and a couple of bandages.

Kate: So what are you?, some sort of moster fighter?

Groo: Yes, I am the brave and…..

Kate: undefeated champion, You said that already.

Groo: I have lived here for nearly two years.

Kate: Where did you get that super human streagth from, just picked that up somewhere.

She rubs the cream on his cut leg.

Groo: Well it’s a long tale, when I was born I….

Kate: Ok Groo I don’t need a full out storie here.

Groo: I am sorry.

Kate: don’t worry about it.

Kate puts on the bandage.

Kate: There you go all done.

Groo: Thank you.

Kate: So who are you really ?

Groo: I’m a friend……(he leends in towards her)

Kate leends in and there lips almost touch but then Kevin come through the door:

Kevin: Am I irrupting something ?

Kate: your back

Kate gets up and walks over to Kevin, Groo follows.

Kevin: I am.

Kate: Are you ok, your cut ?

Kevin: Yeah I was attacked by the strangest looking thing.

Groo: Thing?

Kevin: Who are you?

Kate: Oh yeah, sorry, Kevin…..Groo. Groo this is my half brother Kevin.

They shake hands.

Kate: Do you have a place to stay Groo?

Kevin: sure he does!

Groo: No I don’t, I live where I can.

Kate: Then this is your home, think of it as a thank you for saving my life.

Kevin: He saved your life.

Kate: Yes

Groo: Thank you, I shall take the sofa if you don’t have a bed.
Kevin: so now I have to live here with him.

Kate: Kevin, put Groo’s bags in the living room, Groo I’ll give you a tour.

Kate and Groo walk off around the apartment. Kevin doesn’t look happy, but does what Kate asked anyway.
