The poem is my creation hacked out at hyperspeed after watching one too many Buffy eps. Unfortunately the characters belong to someone else in a land far, far away so I'm just borrowing for the time being. Please don't threaten court action...it is with nothing but thorough admiration that we do this.

I’ll wait for you when the moon is full,
The stars are boundless and gentle dark surrounds
Come to me when you need a soul to cling to,
Or a heart in which a love for you can be found
Come to me when your weathered and worn
And of death you have seen too much
Come to me when you have been burnt by a cross’s scorn
And I will heal you with my touch
Come to me when the sunrise threatens,
And the daylight stings your skin
I will hold you, shelter and warm you
Until the night begins again

Now you’re here, sweet Angel,
Gliding in upon the winds of time
A cursed immortal creature,
Made slave to his mortal soul and mind
The chill of his kisses remind me
I’ll find no fire in his heart
While his soft caresses promise
He wishes us to never be apart
Friend, lover, protector
That’s what he’s become to me
Everything it has been written,
A vampire and a slayer were never meant to be
The temptation is there, as its always been
From the beginning to the end of time
For him to bring me across to his world,
Or remain eternal in the shadows of mine
The moon grows full, the stars are boundless
His gentle embrace surrounds me tight
Around us life barely hushes to listen
As the drain of my blood
Is lost to the night
