Virtual Season 8: New Faces

The camera pans down through the city of Rome, going past the leaning tower of pizza, the coliseum, Via sacra, Roman forum, Tarjan’s column. This fades to reveal Buffy sat in the living room of her new apartment. Very stylish, very Italian, leather sofas, stone affect flooring, marbled fireplace, and popular works of art on the wall. As expected being in one of the fashion hotspot has rubber off on Buffy, she looks stunning, but strong and as always dress for any battle. Moving closer in on Buffy we realise she’s talking on the phone.
Buffy: Hey guys great to hear from you again, I miss us just hanging out like the old days, strange not talking everyday.
A sad smile flickers across Buffy’s face
Willow: Come on Buff, it had to happen sometime; we all got our part to play in the mission. But I know what you mean.
Xander: Guy’s don’t bring me down, I for one am sycked to be in Africa I can’t wait to go all Rambo in the rainforest!
Buffy : Ok Xander, were glad you happy going off on your own macho mission. Hey how cool is this three-way line, Will this magic line’s gonna make it so much easier to check in.
Willow: Plus no charge for the long distance!
A strange beeping comes over the line
Xander: What’s that?
Another voice comes over the line: Hello, information? I need to place a call to a Mr Travers in England.
Buffy, Willow, Xander all shout: GILES!!!
The camera cuts from Buffy to a startled Giles in one of the bedrooms, decorated just as lavishly as the living room, we notice that there’s an open suitcase on the bed half packed, looks like Giles is planning on taking a trip. Giles is in his usual attire of jeans and grey jumper, he looks good, the final battle on the hellmouth obviously hasn’t taken much of a toll on him.
Giles: Xander is that you?
Buffy: Giles, Will set up the wicca line, were all on now.
Giles: Oh I do apologise for interrupting? Hello everybody, I take it your all well?
They all say: yeesss!
Buffy: So your still looking for watchers not caught in the blast? Thought Travers was there at the time.
Giles looks a little flustered at the mention of his old colleges, the majority killed by the bomb planted by Caleb.
Giles: (with a regretful tone) He was. I’m actually trying to track down his son. Its proving a lot more difficult than anticipated. Anyway I’ll leave you all to catch up.
Willow + Xander: See you Giles.
Back to Buffy, she’s wonders around the apartment giving us a better idea of her new living quarters. We see a very spacious apartment with a large living room big enough for slayers meetings, over in the far end is a small simplistic kitchen, off to the side the living room is a corridor that leads down to the four bedrooms.
Buffy: So guy’s, how was your vacation time? Three months enough, because it’s time to start the round up.
Willow: Sure Buffy, Kennedy’s already out scouting Rio as we speak. We should have a new student over to you in a few days. And Andrew’s team is on standby come and escort the newbie back to you. Are you all set up for the training school?
Buffy: Yeah, just about. Giles found a great disused building nearby, turns out it was previously a gym so that helped. We’ve also set up a class area where Giles can do his book learning thing, Vi’s helping him out over there too.
Xander: sound’s like it’s all coming together Buff. Ah my newbie may take a little longer, jungle and all.
Buffy: OK guy’s, stay safe. We’ll check in soon.
Act 1
We come back to see Dawn frantically searching in her bedroom, she goes in to the living room and says.
Dawn: Buffy! where is it? I can’t find it?
Buffy: What is the IT your looking for? Details Help Dawn.
Dawn: This day is stressed enough without you being like that. Support remember Buffy? First day at a new school, in a new country, with a new language I won’t be able to speak if I don’t find the talisman Willow gave me!
Buffy: whoa! Dawn chill take a breath a minute ok. First your new school will not be totally new to you, some other the other slayers will be there too, we’ve been in Italy for three months now; your getting adjusted just fine, and the talisman……..Is bound to be around here someplace! We just have to take a good look for it.
They quickly search the whole apartment top to bottom and eventually find it in Giles’ room.
Buffy: Here you go Dawn; wow this thing is really cool I’m glad Willow came up with it. Now we won’t ever need a translator! well for human languages at least. Alright Dawn you’d better get going School starts in 20 minutes.
She takes the talisman, picks up her school pack and heads to the door.
Buffy: You know the drill right?
Dawn: Sure Buff, all the new slayers I know are just kids from the apartment block, if anyone asks too many questions we just back out and leave. No fights on school premises and call you or Rona if anything bad starts going down. I’ve got the drill.
Buffy moves up to Dawn and gives her a hug.
Buffy: I know….I just want you all to be safe, to do well at school and not have the messed up teen years I had. Now we’ve got more slayers coming in, there’s gonna be more time for you to concentrate on studying and not slaying.
Dawn: We will be Buffy. We all want to have something away from the slaying. Anyway I gotta go.

From across the street we see Dawn leave the apartment block and head down the road, the camera spins round to where a small figure, slightly odd looking man dressed all in black, steps out of the shadows of an alley, he turns back to a similar man and motions in the direction of Buffy apartment building, the other man nods back and the 1st man sets off after Dawn. This odd looking man follows Dawn for the ten minutes it takes her to get to school, this whole time Dawn is oblivious that she is being followed.
Cut to an hour later that same strange looking man steps out of an elevator and into a penthouse suite. This place can only be described as fantastically over the top, lavish in every kind of way. Around the room are various demons, some vampires and possibly a few humans; sitting around drinking, gossiping, plotting evil deeds. This guy doesn’t hesitate going in and he heads straight for the door in the far corner. Several of the other people in the room register his presence and the mood intensifies, its now clear that this mans is both respected and feared.
He knocks on the door and waits for an answer from within. He enters when told. This new room is again lavishly decorated but in the style of a study, there’s a man sat behind the desk, all we can see is the shape of his imposing figure. He’s the head honcho, the boss.
The camera swings back round and concentrates on the strange mans face, his head is slightly bowed in respect.
The Boss: Ermanno! You have something to report?
Ermanno: Yes master, we have completed the preliminary surveillance of the slayer Buffy Summers and her friends. We believed that her original watcher- Mr Giles will be leaving for England tonight, her…
The Boss: That does not interest me! Tell me of those who wish to invade MY city.
Ermanno: Yes of course sir, Miss Summers as we already know expanded the slayer legacy; any who may become have now become. Her purpose her seems to be to search out these new slayers and train them, here in Rome.
The Boss: As I thought, she intends to make a challenge over the city. I will NOT allow this affront! But she has proven herself strong, I must be careful. Tell me are there weaknesses.
Ermanno: Of course, there always is a weak link…..except for you master. My humble apology. I believe her weakest link is her sister. The school would be an ideal place for us to test her, be sure that she is no real danger.
The Boss: Excellent Ermanno, I am pleased. You shall send Jax to her school; see how she deals with that. Keep the slayer under your watch. I will not have her gain power over me.
We cut to afternoon in Rio we see Kennedy’s running down the street a deserted street which is clearly the ‘bad’ part of town, after what looks like a guy but is most likely a demon, he’s at least 150 yards ahead. Just as Kennedy is about to run across the road a fist come out of nowhere and lands squarely on Kennedy’s jaw. She goes flying into the middle of the road and lies there unmoving as a big burly guy heads over to her, with a big vicious smile on his face. He takes a good look around and morphs into a yellow skinned demon.

Cut to a school building and as we move inside the school bell rings and kids start pouring out of class all yammering in Italian. As we move through that hall packed with kids we focus in on Dawn talking with five other girls, three look her age the other two slightly older. They’re all laughing and smiling Dawn must be having a good first day.
Dawn: Oh yeh guy’s I can’t wait for you to meet Xander, he’s the funniest guy ever, really cool. But you know He’s in Africa so it may be a while. I miss him, he always has a way to make the danger seem not so bad, always coming out with quips to make us laugh; you really need that sometimes.
Gemma: He sounds great. Someone maybe have a crush????
All the girls laugh and Dawn goes red and sets off down the hall, the others follow.
Dawn: Alright, alright. Maybe when I was 14 but things change; I still think he’s a great guy.
Holly: But he’s hot right!!! You can’t tell me he’s not hot.
Dawn: Yeh ok he’s hot, but not in a sexy ‘I have to have you now or I’ll die way’, he’s just kinda goofy.
The go out the next exit and around the back of the building. Its recess so they all sit down and continue talking.
Gemma: So whets the plan for tonight? More training or do you think Buffy will take us out patrolling? Do a kind of show and tell of slaying.
Dawn : I’m not sure, I doubt Buffy will take you guys out though. There’s a lot of training to do, plus Rona planned a lecture on…….
Out of nowhere a tall slender but very muscular demon springs up on Dawn, grabs hold of her and springs up onto the school roof. Dawn lets off a small shout in surprise. The slayers jump to their feet and stare in surprise at the 50ft building, wondering how the hell he could do that. Once the shock wares off three start looking for ways to get up there and the other run off to get Buffy.
Upon the roof Dawn has gotten her self away from the new demon, they circle each other both looking for an opening.
Dawn: Who are you? I’m not a kid; I know how to fight you.
The demon doesn’t say anything just looks at her, he’s focused. He pounces.
Dawn taken off guard falls to the ground, the demon grabs her and throws her on top of an air grate, he goes over to her and hits her until she’s out cold. We can see this demon more clearly now. His skin is bright green and elastically, he has an unusually oval shaped head with red blazing eyes, he looks too skinny to have any power but he’s just proven looks are deceptive, his legs are long and powerful. He’s built to fight, with strength, speed and agility. The demon opens the grate and throws Dawn down into an old gym. He ties her up and waits for her to wake up. He doesn’t wait long.
Dawn : What’s going on? Who are you?
He acts as though he never heard her, he did but he has no respecting in answering her.
Jax: We’ve been watching you, your sister. Since it came to our attention that you planned on staying in Rome. Your presence is of interest to my master. He and ONLY he runs this city. This is a warning.
Dawn: What do you mean? Who do you work for? (she takes a breath and calms down) Don’t matter, Buffy gonna kick your ass anyway.
Jax: I’m sure of it. Tell me, what is your purpose here.
The gym door swings open, in walks Buffy with the slayers Dawn was with earlier, as well as Rona.
Buffy: To kill you for starters. Get the hell away from my sister.
Buffy stalks forward and the slayers move behind her fighting stances at the ready. Jax takes his chance and leaps at Buffy, she ducks, turns and catches him in mid air with a simple sidekick. Jax recover quickly But Buffy’s not letting up, she take a swing with he axe aiming perfectly for his neck, Jax blocks this suffering a deep gash to his arm, blue blood hits Buffy in the face.
Jax throws a punch landing in Buffy’s face as she shake it off he takes his shot and back flips heading for the door. But Rona’s there to tackle him.
Buffy: This isn’t a drill people! Your slayers now, slay. Gemma, Beck you first. Rona cover the door.
Buffy heads over to untie Dawn as Gemma and Beck take their first field training course. Jax fakes a punch at Beck, swings back and catches Gemma square in the jaw. Gemma goes down blood gushing from her mouth, Rona steps in and sends Jax a warning shot, up steps another slayer to take her place (Jayne). Jax waits to make his move; surveying his shots against seven slayers it doesn’t look good.
This time the slayers rush him together; Jax just isn’t agile enough to dodge the flurry of punches and kicks, pushing Jax up against the wall.
Buffy: WAIT! Hold him. Whenever you get the chance you should always try to get more info from the lackey before you kill them. Either he talks and you win or you kill him and you win.
Buffy moves over to Jax ready to pound him into talking.
Buffy: So what’s the deal? Where do you get off taking my sister? Talk now and maybe I’ll take it easy on you.
Jax: I’ll tell you nothing. I’ll live for my masters’ purpose. This is a warning, he does not approve of you in his city, there will be more to come.
Buffy: Kill him.
Rona takes out her sword and plainly cuts off his head.
Gemma, Beck and Jayne get splattered in the demons blue blood. They look at each other in disgust.
Beck: Yuck! I hate that part.
Buffy: You’ll get used to it, but your clothes won’t.
The camera swings back up to the roof, there we see Ermanno who’s witnessed the whole thing, he does not look pleased and heads off to report in.
Act 2
We see Buffy enter an old building with ‘get fit’ posters in the windows, as she moves further inside we can see that this the place to for all new slayers. Teenage girls are scattered through the halls, most are in class or the gym. Buffy turns down a hall and follows it down going past old classrooms in major need of a dust buster, she goes into the last classroom in the block, which is Giles office.
Buffy: Hey Giles, we’ve got a problem. So I came to my main man.
Giles: What is it Buffy, nothing too serious I hope my flight leaves later tonight.
Buffy: Shouldn’t be too difficult. Just wanted to fill you in. A demon attacked Dawn at school, said he was sending a warning from his master.
Giles: Is everybody alright? How did the new slayer cope?
Buffy: Everybody’s fine apart from a little dead demon splash back. He said more warnings would be sent, so I’m thinking we need to ID the new demon and get the jump on who could be his Master.
Giles: Seems like you’ve got it down already. Do you need be to set Rona and some others up on the research. I think Rona’s ready by now to head up the research, she’s been doing very well.
Buffy: Great Giles. I’ve got a training session with the rest of the girls. I’ll send Dawn and Rona up to the library with the other five from this afternoons action.
We cut to the library it looks scarily familiar. In fact it’s an exact replica of the old Sunnydale High library. Beck is sat at the computer on one table and the others are scattered around the other table skimming over ancient text.
Jayne: This part sucks. I much preferred this afternoon’s action.
Giles: Well Jayne, it’s something you will just have to grow accustomed to. We have no watchers save for me and Andrew and when I do actually find some they will be out in the field. Its up to any given to came and research any problem or demon they have encountered. It’s a very handy skill to hold.
Dawn: We get it Giles, it just isn’t as much fun as training or getting out there and fighting. But I see your point. After all I’ve been at this for the last few years.
Rona emerges from the stacks and starts to make her way to the table, reading as she goes.
Rona: Okay guy’s I think I may have the demon we slayed. His name was Jax, named so because of his Jack-in-the-box skills. You guy’s said he jumped like 50ft onto the roof, right?
Beck: Right, it was pretty cool. Well except for the whole attacking Dawn part.
Rona: Right, so in here they is no mention of any specific demon that it works for, kind of like a ‘Jack of all trades’ in the demon world. It actually indicates that Jax is not a serious threat, usually stay away from humans. That’s strange.
Giles: It’s not as uncommon as you’d think. I know at first you all believe that all demons are evil and out to destroy mankind, when in fact there are many species that simply wish to co-exist in this world. Clem for example and now it seems Jax.
Lisa : So why did he attack Dawn?
Giles: perhaps the warning from his master was only verbal, Dawn was unconscious for a while and that would have given him plenty of time to kill her, but he chose not to.
Beck: So what are we dealing with here? We’re still no closer to figuring out who this master is.
Rona: So the only thing we can do is hit the streets. Its just getting dark out, maybe this master will try something again and we can get a bead on who he is.
Giles: Exactly Rona. Go as a group and stay together. Load up and appraise Buffy of your intentions.

Cut to the lavish penthouse suit of the Master. Ermanno kneels before him telling him that Jax was slain. We still can’t see the masters’ identity.
Ermanno: The only loss here is our friend Jax, but the intention behind him was successful. The slayer has now been warned.
The Boss: True. What is the news of the weak link? Can we use her.
Ermanno: At the time of the attack she was with new slayers, they went and retrieved Miss Summers. As we know Miss Summers is a very dangerous enemy to be making.
The Boss: Then it is vital we send a stronger message. Tell me where would be an opportune place to send a more personal message.
Ermanno: Lorenzo is still watching, I shall instruct him to call when the slayers are vulnerable.
The Boss: This time bring one to me. Lets see what these new slayers are made of.
We go back to Rio, just as the yellow skinned demon picks up an unconscious Kennedy by the hair, Willow sends a bright green energy bolt hammering into the yellow demon. He reels back and drops Kennedy who is still knocked out.
Willow moves in closer we can now see that she has a small cross bow in her other hand. She aims fires and hits the staggering demon in the jugular. He dies almost immediately. Willow drops her tough girls act and goes to Kennedy who is just beginning to stir.
Kennedy: W…what happened?
Willow: Don’t worry baby, I took care of it.
Kennedy: What Willow? You ride in on your white horse again! Is that it?
Willow: What are you talking about? I just saved your damn life. I don’t get a thank you?
Kennedy: Yeh, thanks from helping me to loose the girl. She may be dead by now.
Willow: Hey that is not my fault, that demon was about to kill you. What do you want me to do? Let him?
Kennedy doesn’t say anything; she just stalks off in a terrible mood.
Willow: Kennedy! Wait! We need to go find the girl.
She says nothing. Willow looks bemused and heads off in the direction the other guy was running. Six blocks down she hears the familiar sounds of an ensuing fight. She runs towards the noise and there is the girl they were after pummelling he other guy. But she’s not happy about it; in fact she looks totally freaked.
Willow: Hey big ugly!
Both the girl and the guy who’s now changed into a similar yellow skinned demon looks at her with total confusion.
Willow: I was talking to yellow over there. Hey you want some of this? Or maybe this?
Willow lets rip another arrow from the crossbow, the demon tries to avoid it but it still strikes him in his right shoulder. He’s really pissed off and heads determinately for Willow, but she’s already taking aim and this time she doesn’t miss. The demon goes down with a single arrow embedded in his brain through his eye. The young girl stares down in complete shock.
Willow: Hi I’m Willow. I know what you saw doesn’t make sense right now, but I can explain this whole thing. You’ve always known you were different from other girls, right? Especially lately. Well to cut it short… your special.
The girl just looks at Willow, eyes wide. She brings her hands up to her face and looks down at the dead demon at her feet, again she turns round to gave at Willow.
Willow: I can explain. Everything. Come with me and this will all be made clear.
Willow holds out her hand and the girl shakily takes it.
Asabi the Vampire Slayer has been found.
Act 3
Back in Rome Giles is preparing to catch his flight back to England.
Giles: Buffy, Dawn! I’m just about ready to leave now.
Buffy: Oh Giles I’m gonna miss ya.
Giles: Well your not as far way this time, and I’m only going for a few weeks. Hopefully I can track down Stephen Travers and persuade him to come back her. There’s also a few others I hope to bring back, but Stephen would prove most useful, I believe he still has many of his fathers books and journals.
Buffy: Right, we need all the help we can get educating all these slayers and with the watchers council destroyed anybody that already know about this deal should be working on side.
Dawn: Hey, Giles I’m glad I caught you. Be safe ok, we’ll miss you.
Giles gives both girls a hug, picks up his suitcase, he moves out into the hall and Buffy follows him.
Giles: Buffy. I just want you to know that your doing a great job with these girls. I know it was very hard at first because you didn’t believe in yourself but you already proving yourself. Soon teaching will come as naturally as slaying, and I’ve never been more proud of you.
Buffy blushes slightly and moves over to give Giles another hug.
Buffy: You’re the best, you always know when I need a pep talk. We’ll talk soon, have a safe journey.
Rhona and the young slayers are walking down the street heading for Rome’s main park. They look like ordinary schoolgirls out for a night of fun, but they’ve been well trained by Buffy and Giles there definitely ready for action.
Rona: So how you girls all feeling, first time out?
Holly: It’s ok really, a little scary but its bound to be right?
Rona: oh yeh I remember this one time we were out with Buffy she took us to this demon dive bar and we were all trying to act tough like it didn’t bother us but th….
As they enter a darkened part of the park out jumps fifteen vampires and demons headed up by Ermanno and surround the young slayers.
Beck : Look’s like we got us some fun coming!
Lisa : Oh yeh, with the killing and all
Ermanno: Now ladies, there’s no need to be like that. My master just wishes the presence or you company. My boy’s here are just for scenery, unless of course you make the wrong choice and decide otherwise.
Rona puts herself between the slayers and Ermanno; she’s got her game face on.
Rona: You think were just going to walk off hand in hand with you? You’ve got another thing coming.
Rona takes charge of the attack and swings a right hook at Ermanno, but he’s better than he looks, he’s not just the messenger he’s a fighter. Ermanno easily ducks, catches Rona’s arm and flips her on her back, he gives the signal for the rest to attack.
Ermanno: They’re wanted alive not dead. Remember that.
Each slayer takes a defensive stance and raises their weapons, their training kicking in. The vampires and demons approach cautiously, except of one. A young vampire jumps in and heads straight for Jayne, without even hesitating Jayne side steps the leap and slams a steak in his heart. Dust.
Rona : Oops, you should train your boy’s better!
That’s it no more holding back, each side just goes for it. Slayers are like poetry in motion their speed and agility allowing them to gain the advantage. Rona and Ermanno exchange blows but neither one gaining the advantage. All of a sudden Lisa takes a nasty hit. She hit the ground hard and bleeding. Rona hears her cry out and looks over. This is all that Ermanno needs, he grabs his chance and takes control of Rona and puts a knife to her throat.
Ermanno: Everybody, Fermasi! Stop!
Everybody stop’s apart from Beck as she dusts a vamp that was on her. They all stare at her.
Beck: What? I was in the middle.
Ermanno: Games over lady’s, stand down. NOW!
Gemma: What makes you think we’ll do that?
Ermanno: We may not want to kill you, but there’s no worry over maiming. How bout I make this one into a circus clown. Eh?
Everybody glances at Rona no one really wanting to look her in the eyes. They’ve already made their decision.
Ermanno: All I want is her (Rona). You rest can go home and give the message to Miss Summers. My master seeks her audience. GO!
Beck: There’s no wa….
Jayne: Beck, just do it. It’s Buffy he really wants.
Ermanno and his hench men walk off taking Rona with them, he calls over his shoulder “rivedersi”.
Back at the training school we see Jayne and Holly carrying Lisa going down a hallway to the med room, Gemma goes to find Buffy in the training area.
Buffy: That’s good guys, keep working the bags, remember not to give anything away when you go for a punch, that’s it, nice work.
Gemma rush in and heads over to Buffy.
Gemma: We got jumped in the park, we though it might happen but not that many!
Buffy: Ok calm down and just lay it out for me.
Gemma: We were out looking for the guy that hired Jax and we found some more of is workmen. We fought, holding our own too until Lisa got hurt then Rona got taken. We had no other choice; he said we had to get the message to you. The Master he wants to see you.
Buffy: How badly hurt is Lisa? Which direction did they take?
Gemma: Lisa’s gonna be ok. We figured it was best for one of us to hold back and follow them, that’s where Beck is now.
Buffy: That’s good, well done you did the right thing.
Buffy turns to the half dozen students she’s been training for the last hour.
Buffy: Ok guy’s training’s over. Saddle up it time for a field trip.

Act 4
Meanwhile back at The Master’s penthouse suite we see Rona being manhandles into the luxury office of the Master.
The Boss: Ah Welcome my friend. Please sit.
Rona: What the hell are you on! You think you can send your goons to attack us then treat as guests. What the hell do you want?
The Boss: Oh nothing much, my friend. Your Slayer leader and need to talk. I need that meeting on my ground and I’m guess she’s already on her way.
Rona: You wanted Buffy!?
We hear a loud crash coming from the main living area; the camera shoots round to see Buffy and the gang of young slayers standing in the doorway, the doors hanging off its hinges.
Buffy: Hi honey! I’m home.
The Master outline can be seen from where Buffy is standing as he hovers within the darkness of his office.
The Master: Welcome, Slayer. I wished to speak to you, of your presence in MY town.
Buffy: What do you mean YOUR town, what do you want?
The Master: Power…….
Buffy interrupts and the master looks really annoyed
Buffy: Pff. What else! That’s what all the bad guys want!
The Master: POWER is what I have. Power is what I need. This city is my power and has been for hundreds of years. What I want to know is will you be making a play for my power?
Buffy: Who the hell are you anyway?
The Master looks startled, he moves through the crown of demons and slayers towards Buffy. He smiles a gorgeous smile and Buffy gets her first look at this mysterious stranger. He’s tall and muscular, well dressed in a Black slim line Armani suit. Definitely not the usual stereotypical bad guy. He has shoulder length black hair and is very much Italian in his features, strong jaw line, slightly crooked nose and dazzling eyes. He approaches Buffy and takes a bow, constantly keeping eye contact with Buffy.
The Master: Please excuse my bad manners I am The Immortal. Welcome to my humble home. I must apologise for my method of bringing you here, but I must admit my associates and I are weary of the infamous slayer.
A bit taken a back by the turn of events Buffy is even more weary of the dashing Italian bad guy, not what she expected at all.
Buffy: The Immortal huh! Never heard of you. I don’t care for your methods and I don’t care about your power, my people and I do not appreciate this. I’ll come and go as I please and I will stay in this city as long as I need.
The Immortal: Understood, but Miss Summers you may have the wrong impression of myself. I’m no ‘bad guy’ I…..
Buffy: Really! So what’s with all the demons, sending one after my sister, attacking my trainees in the park. It’s all-front? I don’t believe it.

Buffy: save me the speech I know. But why do you have a problem with me if you say your not evil?
The Immortal: Power as I’ve said. I have it! I want to keep it. My associates here are half-demons persecuted as much as the humans. You will have noticed how quite Rome is at night. That’s down to me; I protect the humans in order to protect myself. It has been this way for hundreds of years, since…..well since a long time.
Buffy: So you protect this city in order for you to have power. But what do you want from me? And where does the ‘Immortal’ part come into it?
The Immortal: I wish not to speak of that. But you I fear may bring trouble to Rome. You are a threat to both Half- demons and humans; you reputation may attract some very unwanted attention.
Buffy: Well get used to it, because I aint leaving! If you are what you say- a protector then so be it. Just don’t harass me and my people.
The Immortal: Understood, may we have the pleasure of meeting again? I feel we could work well together.
Buffy: Don’t count on it. Come on girls were leaving.
Buffy and the rest of the young slayers leave the penthouse, Rona lags behind with a look of surprise on her face.
Rona: Buffy, you gonna just leave like that!
Buffy: Why not he seems no danger, but I’m sure well meet again. We’ve gotta get back Willows gonna do another magic link soon.
Back at Buffy’s apartment we come in on her talking on the phone again. She’s smiling and laughing.
Buffy: Yeh Ok Will he was hot! But I’m gonna have Giles check him out anyway, I need to know more about this Immortal.
Willow: Well I’m glad your love life’s going better than mine! I just don’t get what’s going on with Kennedy, she just blew off at me again when I saved her life. Then I get back and she’s like nothing ever happened! I’m really worried about her.
Buffy: I don’t know what to say Will, just give her time she obviously needs more tie adjusting. So how did the pick up go? Did you find her?
Willow: Yeh Asabi has been fully briefed, she’s definitely taking it well. Its like she always knew she just needed someone to show her the way. Andrew and the team are coming in the morning, so she’ll be ready for training soon. You heard from Xander?
Buffy: Nope, he’s still all Rambo in the rainforest. I’m glad Giles found that guide he knows to go with him, no telling what kind of trouble he might get into without him! So next to do…..

The camera sweeps through the trees past a few birds happily singing, down to reveal Xander and Derek (the guide).
Xander: So when do you think we’ll actually find this tribe? We’ve been walking for hours! Not that I’m opposed to walking, its good for the body and the legs. Can’t forget about the legs.
Derek: Not much further, you nervous? Don’t be. I can do all the translating and getting her to leave with us shouldn’t be too much of a problem. We’ve got plenty of goods to exchange.
Xander: That’s ok then, I just hate the silence. You never know what’s gonna come out at you from behind all these trees.
Just then a tribe of hunters emerge to surround Xander and Derek. They move in for the kill with there spears, not uttering a word, when a small figure leaps from up high into the first hunter taking his down with one blow, she leaps onto three others disarming them before knocking them out.
Xander and Derek take up the fight and take down the two behind them. Within minutes the tribe of hunters are all disarmed and most are unconscious. Xander and Derek stare expectantly at the figure that came to their rescue. Xander’s jaw drops open in surprise as the small figure turns round and is revealed to be…….an old woman!
