Buffy and the gang belong to Joss Whedon, Mutant Enemy, and the WB. No disrespect intended to the creators, but instead my thanks for the inspiration. This is the end, and I give them back to you.

"Tell me the plan again, Angel darling," Drusilla demanded. They were sitting on a bench in the park just waiting for the fun to start. She was getting bored and hungry.

"Melinda brings Buffy here and we kill her," Angelus leaned back to gaze at the huge full moon, "And then we kill Melinda."

"When do I get to kill Willow? Is this Melinda Manipulator bringing her too?"

"No," Angelus sighed, "Willow is an incidental, Dru. Once Buffy is dead, you can kill whoever you please."

"Big plans, not so sorry to monkey wrench them," Buffy stepped confidently from behind a clump of bushes.

"Buffy, my one true love, so glad you could make it," Angelus stood up and sauntered toward them. He looked past Buffy to Melinda, "Thanks, you'll get rewarded after I'm finished with mine."

"Giles?" Willow called out as she entered the seemingly empty library. "Giles?"

"He's not here," Xander checked out Giles' office. He glanced over at Spike, who was hovering in the doorway. "What's the matter?

Spike didn't answer. He had always been curious about this particular gathering place, mostly because Angel had been a part of it.

"Do not move another inch," Giles stepped up behind Spike, a sharpened stake ready to drive into the vampire's back.

"Giles, don't hurt him," Willow moved closer to them, "He's helping us."

"Spike? Is on our side?" Giles stared dumbfounded at Willow. He was beginning to think that Buffy had been right. Willow couldn't actually believe. . . .

"Strange as it seems, G-man, that's the case," Xander offered, "Miss Quick is some sort of demon con artist and Spike doesn't like her any more than we do."

"Don't worry, Watcher, this alliance is temporary. I have no intentions of becoming Angel's successor."

"Where's Buffy?" Willow cut through the discussion impatiently.

"Snyder sent her away with that woman," Giles pocketed the stake.

"Do you know where they went?"

"No idea. Maybe you had better fill me in on everything that had been going on? We might be able to figure out where Miss Quick has taken Buffy."

"Well, I kind of interrupted Miss Quick when she tried to kill Spike," Willow started to explain.

"For which I was eternally grateful and immediately pledged my undying loyalty to her," Spike finished for her. He gave Willow a caressing intimate smile which sent shivers down Giles' and Xander's backs. Xander stepped closer to Willow and gave Spike a glare that he had usually reserved for Angel.

"Willow found out that Miss Quick is possessed by a demon that takes over her body and can manipulate other people to do what she wants. They think that she's going to possess Buffy next," Xander finished the story in a rush.

"Do we know how it possesses people?" Giles was already moving toward his books.

"I only found one obscure reference to Manipulators on the net. It said something like possession takes place at the time of self betrayal. I think it means that Buffy has to do something she doesn't want to and that would make her vulnerable."

"Would killing Angel happen to be on that list of things?" Spike asked speculatively.

"Yes, it most definitely would," Giles sighed, "We have to find Buffy."

"We should split up," Willow suggested, "Spike and I will check out the park and you and Xander can check out the warehouse."

"No," Xander pulled Willow aside, "You can't go out alone with him."

"Xander, I've been alone with Spike for a while. We'll take the park." Willow grabbed Spike's arm and hauled him out of there.

"I love it when you take charge, Ducks," Spike grinned at her, "Leadership suits you."

"I didn't like Angel. I hate that guy," Xander said as he watched Willow leave with Spike.

"Yes, well, I don't like it either, but there's really nothing we can do about it now," Giles packed a few stakes and crosses into a duffel bag, "Why don't you get Cordelia and you two can check out the warehouse. I'm going to the cemetery."

"Why do you do that?" Willow demanded as soon as they were out of the school.

"It's fun," was Spike's simple answer.

"Argh," Willow growled softly, "You have your soul back now, Spike. Aren't you supposed to be. . . to be. . . I don't know! Different?"

"You mean nice. A kinder, gentler Spike. Housebroken like Angel was?"

"Well, yes."

"Sorry to disappoint, Ducks," Spike shrugged, "But I wasn't a very nice human and the reestablishment of my soul isn't going to change me much as a vampire."

"Oh," Willow was a bit disappointed. She was starting to like Spike, but she couldn't possibly be his friend once everything went back to normal and Spike resumed his nocturnal activities.

"Did this obscure reference you found happen to mention how we are supposed to dispose of this Miss Quick?"

"No, I just thought we would wing it."

"Fine. You do know that if we find them, Drusilla will be there as well?"

"Yeah, why do you think I insisted you come with me?"

"My wit and charm," Spike dead panned. Willow couldn't help it. She laughed.

"What reward? B. . .Buffy who is this man?" Melinda clung to the Slayer's arm.

"Angel."

"The vampire you were telling me about?" Melinda's eyes widened in terror.

"You'd better not be doing what I think you're doing, bitch," Angelus growled.

"Is he going to kill us?" Melinda kept up her charade.

"I was going to anyway," Angelus attacked without further discussion.

Buffy was ready for him. She shoved Melinda Quick into a clump of bushes and leaned over, using Angelus' momentum to flip him to the ground. He didn't stay down for long. Angelus sprang to his feet, unfortunately his face met Buffy's fist. Buffy followed that move with a shot to his left knee, taking him down once again.

"Kill him, Buffy," Melinda hissed.

Buffy stood over Angel. For the first time since she had met him she felt nothing for him. He was just a demon in need of staking. Slowly and deliberately Buffy pulled a stake from one of her mirid of hiding spots in her jacket.

"Dru," Angelus ordered the female vampire to his side. He could see it in Buffy's eyes. She was going to dust him tonight.

Drusilla automatically started to approach at Angelus' barked request, but the sound of delighted feminine laughter stopped her. She recognized who was laughing deep in her gut. Drusilla left Angelus to his own fate and went after her nemesis.

Spike sensed Drusilla seconds before she appeared in front of them. He halted Willow's progress with a hand on her arm. "We've company, Ducks. Scream."

The stake whistled inches from Angelus' ear as he rolled away from the attack. He didn't have the chance to regain any footing as Buffy aimed another blow to his chest.

"Help! Buffy!" Willow's bloodcurdling scream stopped Buffy from ending what was left of Angelus' life.

"Buffy, what are you doing? You have to kill him," Melinda screeched, running after Buffy into the trees.

Angelus slowly got to his feet. He had been that close to death only once before and that had been when he had died. "Don't start the chaos without me," he whispered and followed.

Buffy tackled Drusilla from behind before she had a chance to attack Willow. Drusilla screamed and started scratching and pulling at Buffy's hair.

"The time has come to say good-bye," Spike let go of Willow's arm without looking at her. He jumped into the fray, separating Buffy and Drusilla.

"Buffy, what are you doing?"Melinda screamed in frustration. "You have to kill Angel. Once he's gone everything will go back to normal and you can stop feeling so guilty. In fact, while we're all here, why don't you kill them all? Get rid of the vermin in this town."

"Now, that's the best idea I've heard all night," Angelus' arm wrapped around Melinda's neck. Angelus looked over her shoulder to the others, "Spike, you're back. And you brought a friend."

"I don't keep humans as friends," Spike snarled, "I'm not you."

"Oh, yeah? Prove it."

Spike took up Angelus' challenge. He shoved Buffy and Drusilla to the ground. Buffy quickly scrambled towards Willow. She stood up, putting herself between Spike and Willow. Spike paid no attention to the Slayer. He pulled Melinda Quick from Angelus and buried his fangs deep into her neck.

Willow didn't say anything. She let Buffy take her hand and pull her away from the scene.

Willow sat at her computer in the library. Xander, Buffy, and Cordelia sat at a table trying to look like they weren't watching her.

"How is she? He didn't hurt her, did he?" Xander whispered.

"Not physically," Buffy frowned, "But I think she might have started to believe he was her friend."

"Eww," Cordelia made a disgusted face, "He isn't going to start obsessing over Willow like Angel does with you, is he? One vamp on my trail is quite enough, thank you."

"I'll go talk to her," Xander stood up, "I'll be able to cheer her up."

"Hey, everyone, what did I miss?" Oz breezed into the library. He gave Willow a quick kiss and sat down beside her. "I missed you."

"I missed you too," Willow grinned at him.

"So, what's on for tonight?" Oz slung a casual arm around Willow's shoulders.

"Nothing," Xander sat down again, "You missed all the action while you were wolfing."

"I don't know," Willow disagreed, "Something always seems to be happening here. This is the Hellmouth. We should put in an appearance at The Bronze. Just in case."

"You going psychic on us, Will?" Buffy smiled at her friend. She seemed more normal now that her boyfriend was with them. "Or do you just feel like partying?"

"A bit of both," Willow answered. She checked her watch. "I'd better go. I have a class to teach." Willow gathered her things, but before she shut off the computer, she checked the message once more.

"Ducks, Angel and Dru have something planned at The Bronze tonight. Yours and the Slayer's presence is requested." Spike may never be housebroken, but he was tame enough to be her friend.
