Stay With Me: chapter 1
by Spikes Queen
At the bronze, Buffy was sitting at the bar, knowing Giles was leaving, when Spike came up next to her.
“Buffy?” She didn’t look up at him. “You okay?”
She shook her head and stood up. Spike put his arms around her and rocked her soothingly.
“Come on, Luv. I’ll take you home,” he said, leading her towards the door.
When they were almost to her house, Buffy began to get tired and sluggish. “Spike, my legs aren’t gunna hold me much longer,” she said, softly.
Without another though, Spike picked her up and carried her inside. He sat down on the couch with her in this lap. He felt her start shaking, knowing she was crying, softly. He rubbed small circles in her back. He pressed his cheek in her hair as she slowly let her tears all out. He took her upstairs and went to check on Dawn as she changed her clothes.
He peeked in Dawns room and she was fast asleep on her bed. He could tell she’d been crying, he could smell it. He shrugged off his duster and covered her with it, seeming that she didn’t get under the covers. She stirred lightly but snuggled into the coat.
He smiled fondly and headed back to Buffy’s room. He knocked softly. “Pert?”
She was standing in front of the window and had silent tears running down her face. She had put on shorts and a shirt and looked very small. Spike frowned and pulled the covers down on the bed. He went over to her and put his hands on her shoulders. “You need to get some sleep.”
“Spike, I feel so alone,” she whispered.
Spike hugged her tightly and then scooped her up. He laid her in bed but she didn’t let go of his neck. “Stay with me please,” she whispered.
Spike toed off his boots and snuggled in the bed with Buffy. “Dawn was really upset. Maybe we should keep her home form school tomorrow.”
Spike snuggled up against him and relaxed. “That sounds like a good idea. Maybe I should take Dawn out with Willow. You know girls day out. She’s been a little strange since I got back. Partially my fault. I have a girls day and then you and me can do something tomorrow night. Sound good?” She asked, running her hand up and down his abs.
“Sounds good. Now get some sleep.” He kissed the top of her head and she smiled. It wasn’t long before she was peacefully sleeping.
In the morning, when Buffy woke, Spike was already awake and stroking her hair. She inhaled deeply and snuggled into him.
“Morning, Pet,” he said, softly.
“Morning.” She began stroking his abs again.
“Dawn’s still sleeping. I turned her alarm off last night. Feel better?” Spike asked, trying to see if her mood was still crappy.
“Yeah. I’m glad you stayed,” she said, leaning up and gently brushing her lips against his.
He was in shock for a fraction of a second but then he kissed her back.
“Buffy,” Spike whispered, when they broke for air.
“Shhh. No talk, more kiss,” Buffy said, leaning in to him.
They kissed for a few hours before finally deciding to get up.
Downstairs, Dawn was sitting on one of the barstools, staring into space.
“Nibblet?” Spike asked, coming into the kitchen.
Dawn’s head came up and she looked at him.
“You okay, Bit?” Spike asked, sitting next to her.
Dawn shook her head and leaned against him. Spike brought his arm around her and pulled her closer.
“Spike this isn’t fair. Buffy lied to me. She didn’t wanna come back. Tara and Willow are fighting and now Tara’s gone. Maybe you should have let Buffy burn when she was dancing,” Dawn said, tears running down her face.
Buffy was standing in the doorway, crying softly as well.
“Dawn, you need Buffy and she needs you. You know Buffy loves you and if she died again, I know that you couldn’t bear it. And quite frankly, I couldn’t either,” Spike said, stroking her hair.
“Um… Buffy’s gunna be mad that I’m not in school,” she said, softly.
“No. Last night, Buffy decided she would spend some time with you and Willow. I know she’s a little distant right know but I’m sure some time with her baby sister will help.”
Dawn looked up at him. “I’m not her baby sister.”
Spike tickled her sending her into a fit of giggles. “I think you are.”
Buffy had to smile at the sight before her.
Spike had Dawn out of Buffy’s sight for a second but then both of them came after her.
Buffy’s eyes widened as Spike and Dawn tickled her. She screamed with giggles. She manages to get the upper hand and tickled Spike. She was the only one who know he was hopelessly ticklish.
“Okay, I give up!” Spike yelled.
Buffy smiled evilly. “Gotcha.”
“I’ll get you back,” Spike said.
Dawn was on the floor next to Spike, her face full of suspicion. “Spike, how did you end up here so early?”
“He stayed with me last night,” Buffy said.
At Dawn’s confused look, Buffy continued. “He brought me home and I asked him to stay.” She leaned down and kissed him softly.
“So you finally came to your senses?” Dawn asked.
“Yeah. Hopefully they’ll all stay in check. You ready for some sister bonding?” Buffy asked.
“You bet. Willow left last night after Tara did. She didn’t come back,” Dawn said.
“She needs time. It’s gunna be hard for a while. We’ll help her deal,” Buffy said.
Spike’s hands had crept up to Buffy’s back and he started tickling Buffy again. By the time they were finished, Spike was sandwiched between them.
“God, we haven’t done that in a while,” Dawn said, breathlessly.
“It’s a lot like having mom back,” Buffy said, softly. Spike looked down at her with awe. “Dawn go get dressed so we can go shopping,” Buffy said.
Buffy got up and pulled Spike to his feet. She pressed her lips to his and they kissed passionately. “When I get home you and I are doing something special. Don’t go through my stuff while I’m gone. Just cuz we’re in love doesn’t give you certain privileges,” Buffy said, wanting to see if he noticed what she said.
“I promise. Have fun.” He kissed her and when Dawn came down, the two girls left. He did catch it, but wasn’t gunna let her know that.
When they arrived home, Spike was in the living room reading a book.
Dawn and Buffy were carrying a few shopping bags and laughing.
“I see that you two had fun,” Spike said, standing up.
“Yeah, it was a blast. I’m going to Janice’s for the weekend. Bye guys,” Dawn said, and left.
“You planned that, didn’t you?” Spike asked, approaching Buffy.
“Absolutely. Willow called me and she said she wouldn’t be home for a couple days. That means we have the house to ourselves,” Buffy said, wrapping her arms around him.
“How will we pass the time?” Spike asked, playfully.
“I’m sure we can come up with something,” Buffy said, kissing him softly.
Spike picked her up and took her to the bedroom. Spike placed her on the bed and undressed her.
“Spike… I love you,” Buffy whispered.
Spike looked at her. “I love you too, Pet.”
