To Buffy: From Xander: To Buffy: From Xander

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The stars in the sky are strangers
The wind through the trees but a long-lost friend
And she stands in the middle
Of a nightmare with no end

I watch her do the things she must
To fight the creatures moonlight births
And yet the struggle is inward;
She wonders of her worth

And I stand here not knowing
If tomorrow will find me well
Her path is set ahead of her
Ridden with an untamed hell

I want to make her feel needed
For so often she does not
If I could make her see my love
Would she feel any lot?

This angel means the world to me
A love I can't deny
But the Angel that still holds her heart
Is the apple of her eye

Funny how this life's winds blow
A Slayer's call is to fight the night
And yet she loves a soulless beast
This does not seem right

The stars in the sky are strangers
She's long since forgotten the simple flares
Her life's too hard to stop and dream
Of happy-endings and fairy-tales

The winds that chill me to the bone
This barren and cold night
Are the same ones that warm her soul
As she runs to make wrongs right

And I can stand here waiting
Forever and a day
But she will never see me
For her eyes are turned an Angel's way…

The winds that whisper through the trees
Sing haunting ballads with no end
And though the winds of time are changing
I will always be her friend

If not more… *wink, wink*
