*****Prologue*****
*****SUNNYDALE - JUNE 1999***
In Buffy’s bedroom the sound of lively music could be heard drifting out of the door, mixed with the sound of giggling and squealing.
It was Prom night and Buffy, Willow and Cordelia were getting ready in Buffy’s room. Willow and Cordelia were sharing a limo and had invited Buffy to join them, as Angel hadn’t contacted her since she’d asked for a longer break. She didn’t even know if he was definitely going to show up.
‘So, what do you guys think?’ Cordelia asked as she smoothed her dress down and stood in front of the mirror. Her dress was long, low cut and red, with a sparkling pattern wrapped around the waist which looked like a belt of stars.
‘Cordy you look great!’ Willow said excitedly, as she slipped on her shoes.
‘You too Willow.’ Cordy gave an approving nod towards Willows dress, which was a strapless olive green satin dress, with a rich floral patterned bustier. She Smiled back at Cordy as she slipped her matching scarf round her neck. They both noticed Buffy sitting quietly on her bed, flicking through a couple of CD’s.
‘Buffy?’ Cordy asked tentatively.
‘Huh?’ She replied.
‘He’ll be there Buff, you know he will.’ Willow said, with a wide encouraging smile. ‘Come on, the limo will be here soon. Are you ready to go?’
Buffy stood up and looked at herself in her mirror, she twirled slowly with a thoughtful look on her face. Her dress was pale pink and sparkly and she wore a pearl necklace that her mother had given her. She slipped on a soft pink wrap and nodded to the others. She wasn’t even sure how she’d react to seeing Angel, to acting normal just for one night, for the sake of ending highschool on a high-note. What was the point in even going… A horn sounded outside.
‘Let’s go.’ She said reluctantly and led the way out of her room.
