Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Episode1 (145): Mommy Dearest

Scene 1
{We see a young woman lying in a bed. The room is flooded with sunlight, her head is under the pillow. An alarm clock sounds, the camera zooms in as she turns it off. We now see that it is Buffy.}
Buffy-Ah...morning already.
{She gets up and looks out the window.}
Buffy-A sunny morning...just what the doctor ordered. Time to see is Dawn's up.
{Buffy turns away from the window and exits the room.}

Scene 2
{A door opens and Buffy enters the room. She almost trips over a pile of clothes lying in the floor as she makes her way to a bed. The camera cuts to Dawn who is sound asleep.}
Buffy-Dawn?
{She taps her shoulder.}
Buffy-Dawn?
{She taps harder now.}
Buffy-Dawn, wake up.
{Dawn opens her eyes, startled.}
Dawn-Buffy...um...is it time to get up already?
Buffy-Yeah. It's 8:30 and I promised Andrew that we'd help him locate some potential slayers.
Dawn-We? Why can't you go with him...you know, without me?
Buffy-Come on. Being alone with Andrew is like...like...something unpleasant.
Dawn-So you want me along for company?
Buffy-Yeah, but you also help us out.
Dawn-How?
Buffy-Well...oh! Yesterday there was that girl and you...got her to believe use about the whole being a slayer thing.
Dawn-Okay, I'll go. What time is he supposed to be stopping by?
Buffy-There was no time. Andrew just said he'd stop by sometime in the morning.
Dawn-Oh. Why are we even helping him?
Buffy-'Cause we're nice and feel sorry for him.
Dawn-Yeah, but he's just really annoying.
Buffy-I know. I'm still trying to believe that I actually said he could come to Rome with us.
{Camera fades out.}

Scene 3
{Andrew is walking down a sidewalk and towards a building. As he enters the shade we hear footsteps. Andrew turns around but sees no one. He continues walking, slightly hurried now. Then an arm grabs him from behind. Andrew screams as he is quickly pulled away.}

Opening Credits

Scene 5
{Buffy and Dawn are sitting at a kitchen table. There is a pitcher of orange juice in the center. Buffy is eating some toast and Dawn is munching on a bowl of cereal. Buffy takes a sip of her orange juice and glances at her watch.}
Buffy-Andrew still isn't here.
Dawn-Maybe he just forgot.
Buffy-Maybe.
{Buffy looks skeptical.}
Dawn-You don't think something happened to him, do you?
Buffy-I don't know. It's just that he usually comes early in the morning. Oh, well. Maybe he did forget. That means we can go on that shopping spree.
Dawn-Oh, yeah. You're buying everything right?
Buffy-Nope.
Dawn-Come one, Buffy.
Buffy-I'm sure you have money of your own to spend.
Dawn-Well...you know how when we first got here you gave me $100?
Buffy-Uh, uh.
Dawn-And you told me to get something to eat and save the rest?
Buffy-Dawn?
Dawn-I bought a necklace and a new pair of shoes.
Buffy-Dawn! I told you specifically what to do with that money.
{Buffy is trying to stay calm.}
Dawn-I know ,but...I couldn't help myself.
{Buffy looks very angry and is about to scold Dawn but suddenly smiles.}
Dawn-Buffy?
Buffy-You just remind me of me.
Dawn-I remind you of you?
Buffy-Yep. I remember when mom used to take me to the mall and make me run errands for her. I would always do something else with the money or, you know, have to stake a few vamps.
Dawn-Cool. Mom took you to the mall?
Buffy-You were like 9 or 10ish. Mom didn't think you were old enough.
Dawn-I so was!
{Buffy laughs and so does Dawn.}
Buffy-I forgot how much I really miss mom.
Dawn-I know. Remember when I tried to bring her back?
Buffy-Yeah. That's not necessarily a memory I want brought back into my head right now.
Dawn-Sorry.
Buffy-For what?
Dawn-For bringing it up.
Buffy-Don't worry about it.
{The telephone rings. Buffy looks to Dawn. When Dawn doesn't get up. Buffy does. She answers the phone on the third ring.}
Buffy-Hello?
{There is silence on the other end for a second and then we hear a familiar voice.}
Willow-Buffy?
Buffy-Oh, God! Hey, Will. How's the college life going?
Willow-Great. It's great to get back into the swing of things. However, I have to admit that it feels weird not having anything out of the ordinary happening.
Buffy-There's not even the occasional vampire?
Willow-Nope. Nothing.
Buffy-Wow.
Willow-How's Rome?
Buffy-Nice. It feels so good to be able to relax for a little bit.
Willow-And Dawn?
Buffy-She's fine.
Willow-Andrew?
Buffy-I'm not so sure.
Willow-Why?
Buffy-Well, lately we've been rounding up potential slayers. We were supposed to again this morning, but he never showed up.
Willow-That's Andrew for you.
Buffy-Yeah. You never know what's going on in that head of his.
Willow-I vote for nothing.
Buffy-There's always that. So, you made any friends?
Willow-Oh, yeah. Tons.
Buffy-That's good. How's Kennedy?
Willow-She's okay. A little upset that I'm at college though. The long distance thing bothers her.
Buffy-Really?
Willow-Yeah. I do visit her every other weekend though.
Buffy-That's good. I'm glad you two are still together.
Willow-Thanks. You okay?
Buffy-Yes. Why?
Willow-You just seem slightly distant or something.
Buffy-It's just...I have this feeling that something's not quite right. It's already 11:00.
Willow-Maybe Andrew just forgot.
Buffy-That's what Dawn was saying.
Willow-Great minds think alike.
Buffy-I guess you guys are right. It's probably nothing...I'm totally over reacting.
Willow-Big time. I mean, it's Andrew. Well, Buffy, it's been great talking to you, but I do have to go to some classes right now.
Buffy-Okay. Bye, Will.
Willow-Bye, Buffy.
{Buffy hangs up the phone and walks back to the kitchen table.}

Scene 5
{We see that Andrew is tied to a wall, his hands and feet in chains. He is conscious but barely. Then we hear a door open and footsteps. Andrew lifts his head up.}
Andrew-I still don't get why you dragged me off into your evil lair.
{There is silence and then we hear a woman's voice. To us it is unrecognizable.}
Voice-I told you, Andrew, that it is time for you to join me. You betrayed me once, but now you will do anything and everything that I say.
Andrew-Or what?
Voice-I'll kill you. Squash you like the bug that you are.
Andrew-Okay. You aren't going to make me do things like kill little pigs and my best friend again, are you?
Voice-No. You'll do useful things for me.
Andrew-Good.
Voice-Right now, you should probably head over to Buffy's. We can't have her worrying and then coming to look for you. I don't want her to find out about me. Not yet anyway.
Andrew-Okay. Wait, how do you know that I was going to Buffy's?
Voice-I know everything.
Andrew-Yeah...can you just unchain me.
Voice-Fine.
Andrew-When will you tell me what you want me for?
Voice-When I feel that you are ready.

Scene 6
{Buffy is rinsing the plates and cups at the sink while Dawn is watching some TV. There is a knock at the door and Buffy goes to get it. She opens the door and we see Andrew standing on the other side.}
Andrew-Hey, Buffy. Sorry I'm late.
{He walks inside and Buffy shuts the door behind him.}
Buffy-It's fine. What were you doing anyway?
Andrew-Nothing you'd care to know about.
Dawn-I told you he was okay.
Buffy-You were right.
Dawn-Darn straight.
Andrew-Buffy was worried?
Buffy-No. I was just wondering why you were so late.
Andrew-I'm touched.
{Dawn starts to laugh but quickly stops.}
Dawn-So, who are we rounding up today?
Andrew-I'm not sure. I used the locator spell that Willow taught me, but I came up with nothing.
Buffy-Aren't all girls filled with the Slayer power now?
Andrew-Yes, but only some can be chosen. Those who want it at heart.
Buffy-Why?
Andrew-I don't know all of the details on that.
Dawn-So we aren't hunting for potentials today?
Andrew-Doesn't look like.
Buffy-Fine. We'll start training the ones that we have found.
Andrew-I wouldn't jump into it.
Buffy-Why not?
Andrew-As far as we know, there's no new evil in town. Hard core training really isn't necessary.
Buffy-But as Slayers, they do need to learn the basics.
Andrew-They already do. I've been training them.
Dawn-You? You've been training them?
{Buffy and Dawn share the same look of amusement.}
Buffy-I know that you've changed and all, but...how did you train those girls?
Andrew-Before I cam to Rome, with you and Dawn, Giles helped me out. He taught me the basics that ever Slayer needs to know so that I could train them.
Buffy-When did this happen?
Andrew-When you were off visiting Angel. I have some information about him, by the way.
Dawn-How do you know so much?
Andrew-I have connections.
Buffy-What do you know?
Andrew-Just that he and his buds are now working at the evil law firm, Wolfram and Heart.
Buffy-Excuse me?
Andrew-You heard what I said, Buffy.
Dawn-But it can't be true. Angel would never work for them.
Buffy-Is he Angelus or something?
Andrew-No, he's Angel. In fact, he's the big CEO.
Buffy-I don't understand.
Andrew-Thinks he's gonna change it. Do some good.
Buffy-At Wolfram and Heart?
Andrew-Yes. On and there's something else I think you should know.
Buffy-Like what?
Andrew-Spike's back and he's a ghost.
{Buffy and Dawn stare and Andrew, both shocked.}
Dawn-I thought Buffy said he burned up.
Andrew-He did. The necklace he wore showed up at Angel's office in some envelope. Angel opened it and bam, Spike popped out.
Dawn-Wow. What do you think about this Buffy?
{Buffy's eyes are glazed over. It looks like she is remembering something. Suddenly, we are back in the Hell mouth.}
Buffy-I love you.
Spike-No you don't, but thanks for saying it.
{Buffy reaches out to touch Spike's hand. She wraps her fingers around his and a flame appears. Both have tears in their eyes. Then Buffy lets go. There's a flash and we are back in Rome.}
Dawn-Buffy, are you okay?
{Buffy blinks for a while and looks at Dawn.}
Buffy-Yeah...I'm okay. Just um...nothing. I'm fine.
Dawn-You sure?
Buffy-Uh, uh. I never told you exactly what happened with Spike that day, did I?
Dawn-No. You don't have to either.
Buffy-I think I do. It will help to get it off of my chest. It was right after the earthquake started. Everyone was running out. I was about to go, when I saw that Spike was still standing there with that stupid necklace on. I begged him to go, but he said he wanted to see how it ended. So, I told him that I loved him and took his hand. There were flames between our hands, literally. I asked him to leave with me one more time and he still refused. The earthquake got more severe so...I left him there.
Dawn-Oh...Buffy.
Buffy-I'm fine now. Remembering it just got me a little choked up.
Andrew-It's my fault. I'm the one who told you Spike was back. I just didn't realize you would get this upset.
Buffy-It's fine, but if that's all you have to say, please leave.
Andrew-But Buffy...
Buffy-Just go.
{Andrew looks hurt as he leaves. Dawn puts her arm around Buffy and the camera fades out.}

Scene 7
{Andrew is in the same place that he was before but is unchained. He is still talking to the same person, but we cannot see who it is is.}
Voice-Did you tell her what I told you to tell her?
Andrew-Yeah, but why did I have to? She took the news so hard.
Voice-Because I asked you to and you do what I say. You don't want to piss me off again.
Andrew-I pissed you off before?
Voice-Yes, but let's not go back to that time. It's a new day and time. I think you've learned your lesson.
Andrew-But why did you want her to know that stuff?
Voice-Buffy has always been strong, I should know. And at this time in her life, she is at her strongest point. I knew the news would weaken her, but it is only temporary. I'll need to weaken her even more if I am to make my move.
Andrew-What move?
Voice-You'll find out when the time is right. If I tell you know, you won't be able to keep it to yourself.
Andrew-That's not true!
Voice-Yes it is. Knowing you, you'd wire yourself again.
{Andrew looks confused for a minute or two.}
Andrew-Who are you?
{We do not hear anything for a while and then we see someone walk out of the shadows. It is Joyce Summers, Buffy's mother.}
Joyce-I'm disappointed in you, Andrew. I thought you would've figured it out by now. Looks like Giles may have trained you, but you are still stupid.
Andrew-I don't understand...what? I thought you were dead.
Joyce-I was, still sort of am.
Andrew-Then you're a ghost?
Joyce-You are asking way too many questions.
{Joyce walks over to Andrew, lifts him up by his shirt, and throws him across the room.}
Joyce-You should learn to be quiet more often and quit being so annoying.

Scene 8
{Buffy and Dawn are sitting on the couch. The TV is on, but only Buffy seems to be even slightly interested. Dawn is reading a newspaper.}
Buffy-You'd think with satellite that there would be no possible way to be bored.
{Dawn looks up from her reading.}
Dawn-Yeah...
Buffy-The newspaper is really that interesting, uh?
Dawn-Well, this article is.
Buffy-What's it about?
Dawn-A boy about 10 was found dead last night. He had been acting strange for about three weeks, according to his parents. Then last night they went to see if he was okay, cause he had been in his room all night. He was dead. Oh, and it's the fifth kid that's been found dead in the past two months.
Buffy-Wow. Do they know how he or the other children died?
Dawn-Nope. It just says that all of the parents reported weird behavior. It was like they weren't themselves.
Buffy-Like they were possessed or something?
Dawn-I don't know. It is pretty weird though, don't you think?
Buffy-Yeah. Did they do any autopsies?
Dawn-Um...
{She scans the newspaper looking for the answer.}
Dawn-Yep. They haven't done one on the new kid, but they did do some on all of the other kids.
Buffy-What did they find out?
Dawn-That something had happened to their brains. It says it looked like a brain of someone who had had a bad stroke or got in a bad wreck. In some cases it even looked like someone with Down's Syndrome.
Buffy-And the kids were fine until a few weeks before they died?
Dawn-Uh, uh.
Buffy-Weird. Did the parents take them any where when they noticed the um...different behavior?
Dawn-One mother did. They did some CT scans and things but...their daughter was normal.
Buffy-So it didn't just happen to one sex?
Dawn-Nope. You don't think there's a demon or something, do you?
Buffy-I don't know. It's hard to tell. Maybe it's just a virus going around. Then again, knowing us, it probably is something demonic.
Dawn-Should we start some research?
Buffy-Not this soon. I think we should wait a little bit.
Dawn-Okay.

Scene 9
{There is a little girl sitting on her bed. The room is dark except for a very small night light. She looks frightened and is shaking a little bit. Then suddenly the nightlight goes out. We then hear a deep, manly voice.}
Voice-All alone, are we?
Girl-Daddy?
Voice-No. I am not 'daddy.'
Girl-Then who are you?
Voice-Someone who is going to borrow you for a little while.
Girl-Borrow me?
Voice-Shhhh...
{The nightlight flickers and we see a demon hovering over the child. He's is tall with horns. His skin is a light red, almost pink color. It is dressed in a black cloak.}
Girl-Help!
{The demon put's its hand over the girl's mouth to silence her. He then turns transparent and jumps into the little girls body.}

Scene 10
{Andrew is sitting on the floor. Joyce is standing up reading a book. She looks up for a moment.}
Joyce-I'm sorry that I had to do that to you, but you need to learn when to be quiet.
Andrew-Yeah, whatever. I'm gonna be sore for a few days. What are you reading anyway?
Joyce-Just a little book about a demon.
Andrew-A demon?
Joyce-Yes. I've conjured a demon...oh, let's see...about two months ago. It's such an interesting demon.
Andrew-Interesting?
Joyce-Uh, uh.
Andrew-What does it do?
Joyce-I'm glad you asked. He posses little children between the ages of 7 and 10. He stays in them about 2 or 3 weeks, slowly sucking away their lives and brain.
Andrew-Eww...why did you conjure it?
Joyce-It's a test.
Andrew-For who?
Joyce-Buffy. It has been a while since she had to research a demon and kill it. I want to see if she still has it in her. I'm pretty sure that she does though. Those Slayer instincts will never leave her. I assume she's already started to notice the pattern of the children's deaths.
Andrew-You're killing all of those kids just to see if Buffy will figure it out?
Joyce-Yes, I am.
Andrew-Is this going to be the only one?
Joyce-Probably not. I think that it will be fun to keep challenging her. Each time I'll conjure a demon that is harder to kill and harder to research. Then, at the end of all of this, she will figure out what I am.
Andrew-You're her mother.
Joyce-Yes, but...I am much more than that.
Andrew-What-
Joyce-I'm not telling you now. If you don't figure it out after a while, I suppose I will tell you. That is of course if you don't go blabbing to Buffy.
Andrew-I won't.
Joyce-That's right. If you do, then I'll have to hurt you.

Scene 11
{Buffy is on the phone with someone. At first, the voice on the other end is muffled and then we realize that she is talking to Giles.}
Buffy-Yeah. Dawn is the one who found it in the newspaper.
Giles-So...um...you're saying that 5 children have died in the past two months?
Buffy-I'm sayin'
Giles-And that something was found wrong with their brains?
Buffy-Yeah. The article didn't really make it really clear. It said something about being similar to that of a kid with Down's Syndrome.
Giles-And extra chromosome?
Buffy-Uh, no...I don't think so anyway. I think it was just a nice way of saying they were mentally retarded.
Giles-Ah...
Buffy-Do you think it means anything? I don't know if it's just some virus thingy or...if it's something more serious. Like, something demonic.
Giles-It is hard to tell, but it does sound a little weird. Perhaps they are being possessed by a demon.
Buffy-That's what I was thinking. It's just that well...I know I told you that you taught me everything that I needed to know and that I didn't need your help any more, but I do. Since I've left for Rome, nothing really strange has happened. That is until this and I find myself wanting to turn back to you. You and the rest of the gang were always so good at the research. I just...well, killed the demon or whatever it was we were after.
Giles-I can see why you might be needed my help, but...I am all the way in England.
Buffy-I'm not asking you to come to Rome.
Giles-Oh, I know that. I just mean that...it is up to you.
Buffy-Just like that night you sent me after that singing demon thing all by myself and then showed up to help me and found out that Will had sucked me out of Heaven?
{There is silence.}
Buffy-Look, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to sounds all..rude. I just meant that maybe I really do need your help. You say I can do things on my own, but I really think I can't.
Giles-It is just a state of mind, Buffy. You can do anything, I know that. I've trained you and helped you become the woman that you are today. You just have to believe it too. However, I am flattered that you called me.
Buffy-You should be. Oh, why didn't you tell me about Andrew?
Giles-What do you mean?
Buffy-He told me that before we came to Rome, you trained him. He said you taught him the basics that any Slayer should know so that he could teach it to the girls we found here.
Giles-Ah...that. Yes, I did train him.
Buffy-Well, why didn't you tell me about it?
Giles-Because I knew that you would disapprove of it. I knew that you wouldn't think that Andrew could handle such a big...er...responsibility. You may not see it Buffy, and I'm surprised that I do, but he has changed. He's...er...matured.
Buffy-Yeah...I kinda realized that too.
Giles-I'm sorry I didn't tell you. So, he has trained them?
Buffy-Uh, uh. He came by this morning and said the locator spell turned up nothing and that we didn't have to go find any potential today. So, I told him that we should start training the ones that we had found and get it over with. Then he was all like I have already trained them. Giles taught me the basics and I taught them to the potentials. It was very...shocking. I mean, come one. Andrew, Andrew! training girls to fight.
Giles-It does sounds quite silly and a year ago I wouldn't believe it myself.
Buffy-Yeah. Well, I guess I should probably leave you alone now and get to some research. You've always told me to trust my Slayer instinct and right now it's telling me that something is wrong. Demonically wrong. I think something's sucking the life out of these children and I'm gonna put an end to it.
Giles-I knew you would see things the way I did.
Buffy-Thanks, Giles. You always know exactly what to say to cheer me up or to get my mind into the game mode.
Giles-I am good, aren't I?
Buffy-Bye, Giles.
Giles-Bye, Buffy. Oh and call me to tell me how everything turns out.
Buffy-I will.
{Buffy hangs up the phone and turns around. Dawn is on the laptop typing away. She takes a pause and looks up at Buffy.}
Dawn-Did he say anything?
Buffy-Just that he thinks we can handle things on our own.
Dawn.-Oh...
Buffy-What were you typing earlier?
Dawn-Just doing some searches for demons.
Buffy-Any luck?
Dawn-Not yet. I don't see how Willow used to do this for hours.
Buffy-Yeah. She was quite the computer geek. I um...meant that in a good way.
Dawn-I'm sure you did.
{Dawn starts typing again and then stops. She begins reading something and looks up with a smile on her face.}
Buffy-Let me guess, you found something?
Dawn-I think so anyway.
Buffy-Good. What does it say?
Dawn-Well, the demon's name is Kelgar.
Buffy-Kelgar? I'll say one thing, the names are getting lamer.
Dawn-He possesses young children between the ages of 7 and 10. He gets inside of their nervous system and slowly sucks the life out of them over the course of 2 or 3 weeks. Before he's finished, he sucks almost every bit of intelligence and any thing else he can get out of their brain.
Buffy-What does he use it for?
Dawn-Food and energy.
Buffy-Oh, right. How do we kill him?
Dawn-Well, first of all only kids can see him.
Buffy-Kind of like that uh...thing I had to fight when I was in the hospital with the flu?
Dawn-I guess. But, you can't take anything to see him. You have to perform a spell to corporialize him.
Buffy-Then I just kick his butt?
Dawn-Not right away.
Buffy-Let me guess, we need some special weapon thing or pure silver or something, right?
Dawn-The only thing that will kill him is some kind of special dagger.
Buffy-Does it have a name?
Dawn-Kelgar's dagger.
Buffy-Ah, should've guessed that one. Where do we get it?
Dawn-When Kelgar was first on earth, he ruled for quite a long time. Then he was punished by the Gods. They took his favorite dagger and cursed it. Cursed it so that if it pierced his heart, he would die. They buried the dagger and then sent him to hell. That's all it says. It doesn't actually say where the dagger is.
Buffy-Great.
Dawn-I'll do a search for the dagger and see if I can find it.
Buffy-Okay.
{Dawn types on the laptop more and remains quiet for a while.}
Dawn-Bad news.
Buffy-What?
Dawn-It was buried on the Hell mouth.
{Camera fades out.}

Scene 12
{We are back in the basement with Joyce and Andrew. Andrew is still sitting down and Joyce is holding a very uniquely shaped dagger.}
Joyce-They are getting close to figuring it out...I can feel it. They know how to kill Kelgar and know that they need Kelgar's dagger. If I remember correctly, any book they look in or anything on the Internet they read, will tell them that it was buried in the Hell mouth. Too bad they don't know I have it.
Andrew-So, what exactly is the plan? I thought you wanted them to kill Kelgar and find out how quickly they would do it.
Joyce-I know what I said and I'm not changing the plan.
Andrew-Then why do you have to dagger?
Joyce-So I can give it to them! Do you think they would actually go to the Hell mouth and retrieve it?
Andrew-No.
Joyce-Exactly!
Andrew-What are you going to do? Walk it and drop it on their door step?
Joyce-Yes.
Andrew-What if they see you?
Joyce-They won't. Believe me, they won't.
Andrew-You're the weirdest evil person I ever met. You're going to hand them the dagger right away. You're letting them win.
Joyce-Yes, I am. Like I said before though, it is a test. You may not understand why I am doing all of these things that I'm doing, but I do and that's all that matters.

Scene 13
{We are back in Buffy and Dawn's new house.}
Buffy-What? The Hell mouth in Sunnydale?
Dawn-Um...yeah
Buffy-Well, we can't get it then. Sunnydale doesn't exist any more and neither does the Hell mouth. Great....there's a demon on the loose and we can't kill it.
Dawn-Relax, Buffy. There has to be some kind of loop hole or something. Who knows how long ago it was buried in the Hell mouth. Since then, there is a possibility that someone took it out.
Buffy-I guess so. Anyway to find out?
Dawn-Ebay?
Buffy-Ebay. You're going to search on ebay for Kelgar's dagger?
Dawn-You never know. There's lots of things being sold on ebay.
Buffy-Well, it's worth a try.
{Dawn types on the laptop and a few minutes later she smiles.}
Dawn-It says here that Kelgar's dagger is being sold on ebay...wait...by five different people? Oh...I see. It's a copy, not the original.
Buffy-And I'm assuming that we need to original to kill this Kelgar guy.
Dawn-Yeah.
Buffy-Well, that Web site you were on earlier...um...did it have that spell to corporialize Kelgar?
Dawn-I think so. I have it book marked...let me see. Yeah. It has the spell. It's not really a spell as much as an incantation. We just have to say some words and bam, Kelgar appears.
Buffy-I wish we could get our hands on that dagger, but what are our chances?
Dawn-Pretty bad.
{There is a knock on the door and Dawn quickly jumps up to answer it. Dawn is now in front of the door and opens it. There is no one standing on the other side, but on the door mat there is a small package. Dawn picks it up and brings it back inside.}
Dawn-Looks like we have a delivery.
Buffy-Sure does. Do you know who it's from?
Dawn-Nope. There's no return address. Just says "To Buffy and Dawn. I hope this helps."
Buffy-What the heck is that supposed to mean?
Dawn-Don't ask me.
Buffy-We should probably open it.
Dawn-Yeah.
Buffy-Well, what are you waiting for?
Dawn-I don't want to open it. You open it.
Buffy-Fine.
{Buffy takes the package from Dawn and opens it. She looks curious and slightly confused as she sticks her hand down into the box and pulls out a dagger.}
Dawn-Oh my God!
Buffy-What? Is this Kelgar's dagger?
Dawn-Yeah. It even looks like the original.
Buffy-That's weird. Do you think someone's watching us or something?
Dawn-I don't know, but I don't really want to find out the answer.
Buffy-Well, the point is we have the dagger. We can kill that Kelgar guy.
Dawn-You ready?
Buffy-I was born ready.
Dawn-Then I'll read the incantation.
{Dawn glances at the computer and takes a deep breath.}
Buffy-Now would be good.
Dawn-Okay, okay. Chill. Kelgar, Kelgar we summon thee. I ask you to appear in front of me. Take shape, take form we ask you now.
{Dawn looks up at Buffy, waiting for something to happen. Then suddenly the room begins to shake and a bright light appears. The room goes back to normal and standing in the center of the room is Kelgar. Buffy prepares herself for battle, but is a few seconds off. Kelgar punches her and she flies across the room. She hits the wall and falls down. Camera fades out.}

Scene 14
{Andrew is now standing and pacing back and forth nervously. Joyce is still in the same place calm and patient.}
Andrew-If Buffy dies because of this I'll-
Joyce-You'll do what?
Andrew-Never mind.
Joyce-She won't die. I know her more that she thinks that I do. Kelgar is a powerful demon, but she has faced demons more powerful than him. She will be fine.
Andrew-Then what is the point of sending him after her?
Joyce-You're more stubborn than I realized. You keep repeating the same questions. This is a test for Buffy. I want to see how she reacts.
Andrew-Why?
Joyce-So that when the time comes to kill her, I will be better prepared.

Scene 15
{We see that Buffy is still lying on the floor. Dawn is still standing by the computer, stunned. Kelgar has an evil grin on his face.}
Dawn-Buffy!
{Dawn runs over to Buffy and begins to shake her.}
Dawn-Come on!
{Kelgar is now close to where Dawn and Buffy are. Dawn looks up and sees him.}
Kelgar-You summoned me?
{Dawn is silent.}
Kelgar-I asked you a question.
Dawn-Um...ah...yes.
Kelgar-Why?
Dawn-So that my sister here could kill you.
Kelgar-Ha and look at her now. She's unconscious and has left you all alone.
Dawn-I can defend myself.
Kelgar-We'll see about that.
{Kelgar takes Dawn's arm and pulls her across the room. He throws her on the floor and kicks her hard. Dawn buckles over.}
Kelgar-This is too much fun.
{Just then we see Buffy get up. However, Kelgar does not. Buffy slowly makes her way towards Kelgar, the dagger in hand. She slams her fist down on the back of his head. Kelgar turns around and tries to grab Buffy. Buffy ducks and gives him a kick near his hip. Kelgar stumbled back and tries to punch Buffy. Buffy blocks the punch and kicks Kelgar again. This time he trips and falls to the ground. Buffy straddles him and begins to bring the dagger down into his heart. Kelgar moves his hands up to block her, but Buffy is too strong. She has almost pierced the dagger all the way through when Kelgar suddenly kicks her in the back of her head. Buffy falls backwards and Kelgar jumps up. He punches Buffy and punches her again. Buffy stumbled, but quickly regains her balance. She jumps up into the air, spins around, and kicks Kelgar in the face. He falls down and Buffy jumps upon him. This time she pushes the dagger down quicker and Kelgar has no time to react. Buffy pierces his heart and Kelgar turns into a grayish goo. Buffy stands up and wipes herself off. She then walks over to Dawn.}
Buffy-Hey, Dawn, you okay?
{Dawn slowly sits up and holds her stomach. All she can do is nod.}
Buffy-Here, why don't I help you up?
{Buffy supports Dawn and gradually helps her up and over to the couch.}
Dawn-Thanks, Buffy. I'm glad you kicked his ass.
Buffy-Don't mention it.
Dawn-I know I don't always act like it but...
Buffy-Buffy?
Dawn-I'm glad I have a Slayer for a sister.
{Buffy smiles and sits down on the couch with Dawn. She puts her arm around her and kisses her lightly on her forehead.}

Scene 16
{We are back with Joyce and Andrew.}
Joyce-He's dead.
Andrew-Who?
Joyce-Kelgar, you idiot.
Andrew-Oh, right.
Joyce-I knew Buffy had it in her and I must say, Dawn is becoming quite the little researcher.
Andrew-What's the next step?
Joyce-Do your ears even work? We keep sending demons after her. To test her and to learn more about her than we already know.
Andrew-And why do you need me for all of this? I haven't even helped you yet and you call me stupid all of the time.
Joyce-You'll se why I need you, Andrew. Trust me, you will see.
Andrew-I would like to see now.
Joyce-Well, you can't. You'll just have to wait until another time.
Andrew-Why are evil people always so patient?
Joyce-What makes you say that?
Andrew-Never mind.
Joyce-Your time is coming. Like I said before, you might not see the plan yet, but I do.

Scene 17
{Buffy and Dawn are still lying on the couch. They are watching TV and both look like they could go to sleep any minute.}
Dawn-Buffy, you awake?
Buffy-Yep. What about you?
Dawn-Really tired, but I'm awake.
Buffy-Yeah, well...today has been a long day.
{There is a knock on the door.}
Dawn-Who is that?
Buffy-I don't know. I'm getting a little tired of knocks on the door though.
Dawn-Can you get it?
Buffy-Why me?
Dawn-I got it last time.
Buffy-Fine.
{Buffy gets up and walks to the door. She opens it and we see Xander standing outside. He has a duffle bag in his hand.}
Xander-Geez, Buff. We don't see each other for a few months and you already forget about me?
Buffy-Um...no...come on in.
{Xander enters and Buffy closes the door behind him.}
Dawn-Xander! What brings you here?
Xander-I was wondering if I could move in.
{Camera fades out.}

Scene 18
End Credits

Episode Two Trailer
Scene 1
{Buffy and Dawn are staring at Xander wondering if he is really serious. Xander's smile fades as he waits for them to answer.}
Buffy-I thought you were in LA doing construction.
Xander-I was.
Dawn-What happened?
Xander-Wolfram and Heart.

Scene 2
Joyce-She handled Kelgar pretty well. I knew that she could take him on, but I must admit that Buffy surprised me a little. I can believe she did, in the end. I am her mother after all.
Andrew-You're going to conjure another demon?
Joyce-Of course. I already told you that I was going to keep testing her. Um...let's see...what would be a good demon for her?
Andrew-I know one that rips heads off. I've already conjured him.

Scene 3
Dawn-What are we doing today anyway?
Buffy-I don't know. Maybe we can show Xander around Rome.
Dawn-Sounds cool.
Xander-Hey, a tour. Just what I wanted.
{Just then something burst through the door. Buffy gets up followed by Xander who is followed by Dawn. There is a demon standing in the living room. The demon grabs Buffy's throat. She head butts him. He lets go and Buffy falls to the ground. She holds her throat and stands back up.}
Buffy-You just officially pissed me off. You better not even come near me again.
{Buffy gets ready to attack the demon when he suddenly runs out of the door.}
Buffy-Hm...guess I scared him.

Scene 4
Dawn-Oh! I think I found something. This is the guy right?
{Dawn points to the computer screen. Buffy leans over and looks to where Dawn's finger is pointing. She nods her head.}
Buffy-That's him.
Xander-Topsal? That's a name. Sounds more like topsoil.
Buffy-I'll say one thing, the names of demons are sure getting lame.
Dawn-Don't you want to hear what it says about Topsal?
Buffy-Oh, right, yeah...
Xander-Read away.
Dawn-Okay. It says that he rips off the heads of his victim's and feeds on their brain.
Buffy-Eww...talk about gross.

Scene 5
{Topsal moves and punches through a door and his holding Andrew's throat. Buffy kicks him, but Topsal doesn't loosen his grip. Buffy gets closer and takes a swing at his head, but he moves over. Topsal attempts to kick Buffy. She tries to move out of the way, but his leg makes contact anyway. Buffy looses her balance and falls forward, dropping her sword. Topsal lets go of Andrew, who falls to the ground, and makes his way over to Buffy.}
Voice-Will Buffy be able to defeat him? Or will the unthinkable happen?
