Who She Really Is: Here I Go Again On My Own

by Angel1919

Driving to the desert, Giles stole glances and Buffy. She seemed upset, clearly not wanting to spend her precious time in the desert. “Buffy.” Giles said quietly to get her attention.

Shaking her hair out of her eyes, the Slayer looked at Giles. “Yeah?”

“I just want you to know that I’m only sending you on this quest to help you. I’ve noticed the stress you’ve been under, and I am just trying to help you.”

Buffy smiled warmly. “I know Giles.”

They drove in silence until they reached the hot and dry desert region.

“I’ll be back to pick you up in two days at noon, alright?” Giles said, while Buffy looked around at the desert, annoyed.

“Yes Giles.”

“Have you got your water and stakes?”

“Yep. I’m going now.”

“Right. Well, be careful.”

“Yes daddy.” Buffy said sarcastically, turning to walk away.

Giles smiled as he drove away, leaving the Slayer in a cloud of dust.

Coughing and waving her hands around to rid herself of the it, she walked down a hill. Dusting off her clothes, Buffy looked around, “So here I go again on my own…” she sang softly to herself as she set out on her quest.

Crouching by the large boulder behind the Slayer, a demon’s eyes glowed to compensate for the darkness of light.

It was small compared to most demons, only five and a half feet tall and extremely thin. Dark purple scales stretched tightly over the bones that protruded like tiny horns.

Silently, reading Buffy’s mind, it reached out for her.
