We have already started working on next season - in fact, I just wrote "the end" on Ep. One. (although many revisions await me I'm sure...) I'm celebrating by taking a little spin around the bronze. All I can tell you about next season is that IT ROCKS!!

I can't disclose how I got this (and if you knew whom I worked with, you'd know why!!) Anyhow, I can tell you in no uncertain terms that as of the 17th of June, the draft for Buffy's rebirth involved Dawn running away from her father, meeting up with a Nether-Witch and making a pact with him, which she will forget about for some time. There will also be a guy about Xander's age who evil spirits speek through (the working name for him is "The Vessel",) and he's only been in this world since the portals were opened. Buffy's rebirth will have major repurcussions, and Dawn will be "blamed", not thanked for it.

The following spoilers have just been announed by a UK Buffy phone line:
- ASH has stated that he will only be in episodes 1,4,5 and 6 of season 6, before dropping to an occasional recurring role.
- Episode 1 will open with Buffy's funeral, which wasn't portrayed in the last episode of season 5 and will feature a number of flashbacks to the previous five seasons.
- Willow and Dawn will instigate Buffy's return, planning to bring her back from the dead using Dawn's energy.
- Giles will not agree with their plan. He closes the magick shop and leaves Sunnydale to return to England, warning Willow and Dawn not to contemplate resurrecting Buffy.
- When Willow and Dawn bring Buffy back, she returns radically different. She has a different look and has no memory of who or what she is or who any of the gang are. Willow and Dawn will then try to work out how to restore the old Buffy in Episode 3.

"They'll start shooting new episodes at the end of July, and so far, I haven't heard anything concrete on storylines, because they're still being hammered out. But you can expect more unrequited love for Spike and Buffy."
(In reference to an Angel/Fred romance on AtS): "It's all about deepening the B/A divide."
Enter the Crypt of Decryption:
Well, the writers are finally back at work, and they’re close-mouthed as ever. They seem to be "breaking" the first half-dozen scripts this week; I am assuming this means that they are breaking down the plots of each episode into 4 acts and a teaser. Thus, any spoilers until now claiming that scripts have been written are likely wrong. Marti herself says that she just finished writing Ep. #1.
Now, does the information that Ep. #1 is just now finished contradict Ben’s post claiming what will happen in Ep. #1? No. he speaks of a "draft," not a script. Likely, by June 17, Ep. #1 had been broken down. Of concern in Ben’s account of Ep. #1 is the appearance of another 20-something male character. Will this character be a potential love interest for Buffy? If he is, how will this affect Spike/Buffy’s relationship?
Wanda’s latest spoilers are most promising. First, it makes sense that Mutant Enemy (ME) would want to make BtVS and AtS more separate, for logistical reasons as well as storyline reasons. And the more Buffy and Angel look less like soulmates, the more room there is for Buffy to welcome new men (or vampires) into her life.
Though some may be discouraged by Wanda’s promise of more unrequited love, I think we can also look at this information as a promising sign that the Buffy/Spike relationship is not resolved. Usually, unrequited love is a precursor to, well, requited love.
Ok, that’s it for this week. Stay tuned for next week when I explore as-yet unconfirmed reports that Joss promises more Shirtless Spike in Season 6.
