Thanks to the creative work of Digital Magic, the special effects team that took over during the second season. After Buffy became more popular and the show began generating enough money to get better special effects, Joss Whedon hired Digital Magic to take over and create much cleaner and creative effects on the show. They polished the effect of "dusting" of a vampire. By applying more detailed attention to the effect, they were able to make each dusting individual.
There's nothing like the cool updated look of Buffy's hair and wardrobe. The styles are always up-to-date and even if they aren't, they still look good.
Jeri Baker, the head hairstylist on Buffy, definitely deserves credit for making Sarah Michelle Gellar's hair work with all the color changes it's gone through. She's managed to keep the hairstyles of Sarah and the rest of the cast looking great, no matter what they're put through.
Costume designers, Susanna Puisto and Cynthia Bergstrom create a very updated look for the cast of Buffy. The two are have worked together many times before on several other projects. They either sew the costumes themselves, or get them at vintage stores.
