(Dawn watches Giles breathing raggedly. Ben walks up and Dawn gasps in surprise.)

BEN: Sorry.

(Ben puts his hand on Giles's wrist and takes his pulse.)

DAWN: Is ... is he gonna be okay?

BEN: He was hurt pretty bad, Dawn.

DAWN: It's because of me. It's all my fault.

BEN: No it isn't.

DAWN: You don't know what's happening.

BEN: I don't have to. I just know that sometimes terrible things happen to good people. It shouldn't but, it does. It's nobody's fault. It's just the way life is.
