(Buffy exits her house, sits down on the back porch with her head in her hands, crying. Meanwhile, Spike strides purposefully with the shotgun to stand in front of her. She looks up with a tear-stained face)

BUFFY: What do you want now?

SPIKE: What's wrong?

BUFFY: I don't want to talk about it.

(Spike considers, lowers the gun.)

SPIKE: Is there something I can do?

(Spike sits down next to her and tentatively pats her back, trying to comfort her. She lets him.)
