Never Say Never

Spike was sitting in his crypt, watching Passions. It was his favorite show on T.V. But then again, it was the only show that he watched on T.V. He was thinking about the Slayer. The last time they had talked, it was when she broke up with him, again.

She broke up with ME. He said, still not believing it. As he sat, watching Passions, his mind started to drift. He thought of how Buffy smelled, how she tasted, how he dreamt of her every single night. He couldnt stop thinking of her. She was his. She belonged to him. Thats why he didnt like Xander. He knew Xander liked Buffy, in a more than friendly type way. Xander couldnt have her, though. She was his.

As he thought of her more and more, he was startled by the sound of his crypt door opening and a familiar face walking in. It wasnt Buffy, it was Dawn. She had been crying, her eyes were red and puffy. He was startled, but knew that she had come for help.

What is it, lil bit? He said to Dawn, lovingly. He felt as though she were his own little sister. She was so fragile and little. Spike walked slowly over to Dawn, as Dawn tried to spit out what had happened, between sobs.

She found out about my boyfriend. She was mad. She yelled and screamed. Hes not that much older than me. Hes only 20. Im 16. Thats not that bad. Is it, Spike? Dawn looked up at Spike, as a tear rolled down her cheek.

Spike looked at her, not knowing what to do or say. He walked up to her and hugged her. Now now, pet. Its alright. Your sis has just gotta get used to the fact that youre dating now. Youre growing up and she doesnt want you to. Spike looked down at Dawn and smiled.

Dawn looked at him, feeling safe and reassured that it was ok. She smiled at him. Spike, can you go talk to her? Please? Im scared to go back to the house alone. Shes really upset.

Spike nodded. Of course, luv.

As they walked towards the Summers home, Dawn told Spike all about her new boyfriend. His name was Scott, he was in college and he was studying to become a demonologist. Spike laughed when he heard the word, demonologist. Dawn continued, explaining they had met at the library, when she had went there to get more research books for Willow and Tara, when they were battling the last Monster of the Week.

Spike listened, intently, knowing that this was very important to Dawn. He smiled on occasion and laughed when appropriate. Then, he saw the house. He was nervous to walk into it, but yet somewhat relieved to see it. He smiled and said, Well, here we are, pet. You ready to go inside?

Dawn smiled and giggled softly, saying. I guess so.

They walked in the front door and Spike looked around the corner, into the dining room, trying to find Buffy. He saw movement in the kitchen, and motioned for Dawn to go upstairs. Ill talk to your big sis. Dont worry. Spike whispered, reassuringly to Dawn. Dawn slowly walked upstairs.

Spike walked into the kitchen, to see Buffy doing the dishes. She was upset, he could tell. Spike sat down on a stool and said, Buffy. Buffy jumped at the sound of his voice, but she felt happy to finally hear it. Buffy put down the dishes she was doing and turned to him.

What is it, Spike? Buffy said, as she dried off her hands.

Its about the lil bit. She came over to my crypt. She was very upset. She said that you had yelled at her about her new boytoy. Spike smiled.

Buffy rolled her eyes and laughed. I kinda over-reacted. She just blurted it out, like it was no big deal. I mean, hes 20 years old. Shes only 16. Thats so far apart. Im just.surprised, I guess. She didnt even mention it to me. Until I asked her about school. Then she just kind of rambled on and on about school and then all of a sudden said, oh by the way, Im dating a 20 year old guy. You dont mind, do you Buffy? I mean, what kind of way is that to tell your sister and guardian, that you are dating an older guy?

Spike walked over to her, looked into her eyes and said, How old were you, when you were dating Angel? Buffy instantly looked down and shut her mouth. Thats what I thought, luv. He put his hands on her shoulders and stared into her eyes. Buffy stared back, wanting him to kiss her, but not wanting to make the first move. They had broken up after all.

Spike let go of her arms and said, Im sorry. Ill just go over.here He said as he pointed to a stool. He sat down at the bar, on a stool and looked at her, not knowing what else to say.

Buffy looked at him and said, Spike, Im sorry. I really am. I never wanted to hurt you, I just, couldnt handle everything that was going on. Ya know? Spike looked at her, understandingly and said, I know.

Buffy said, We can go out for coffee, sometime. Or maybe suppera late, late supper. She laughed at her own little joke. Spike looked at her and smirked, saying, Why dont you and me go to the Bronze, tomorrow night?

Buffy laughed, and said, Its a date. Then she stopped and said, A very non-date type date. But a date none the less. She laughed and said, I had better go apologize to Dawn. Ill see you tomorrow night, then. Spike nodded and walked out the back door, headed for home.

Buffy knocked on Dawns door. Dawn, can I come in? she asked quietly, hoping Dawn wasnt too upset with her.

Come in. Dawn said, flatly. She was still a little annoyed, but had faith in the fact that Spike had sorted it all out.

Buffy opened the door and walked into Dawns room. She sat down next to Dawn, on the bed. Look, Dawnie, Im sorry about over-reacting. I didnt really mean to get that upset. You just kind of springed it on me and I didnt know what to say. I was just a little upset that you hadnt told me before this. Buffy looked at Dawn, hoping to see some acceptance in her eyes.

Dawn looked at Buffy, saying, I know, and Im sorry. I just didnt know how else to tell you, so I just blurted it all out. Dawn smiled at Buffy. So, do you have a date, tomorrow night? Dawn smirked.

Buffy laughed, And how do you know that? Buffy looked at Dawn, smiling. Hey, you cant expect me to just sit up in my room, knowing that the two of you broke up. I wanted to know if there were gonna be sparks flying. Dawn laughed a little. So, coffee. The non-relationship drink of choice. You told me that once. Dawn looked at Buffy, remembering the old times, but knowing they were fake. Dawn had finally come to grips with the fact that she wasnt realbut she was real now, and thats all that mattered. Or at least that is what Willow had told her.

Buffy laughed, pushing Dawn playfully. Yes, we are going to the Bronze, tomorrow night. Ahh, I got to find something to wear. Buffy giggled.

Dawn laughed, saying, Hey, I can help you pick out an outfitooh, or we could go shopping! Buffy looked at Dawn, and rolled her eyes. We dont have to go shopping. I have plenty of mix and matchable things, right in our very own home. She smiled at Dawn.

Spike was sitting in his crypt, it was about an hour to sunset and then another hour or so until he was expected at Buffys house. He sat, impatiently, in his chair. He stood up and went to his closet. He looked at his wardrobe. Ha! He laughed, All black. How can I be so confused about what to wear? Its not that hard, pick a shirt any shirt. Theyre all the same! Bloody hell. Spike laughed at himself. He was a nervous wreck. He didnt want to say the wrong thing. He wanted this night to be perfect.

Buffy was sitting on her bed, looking into her closet. Dawn was sitting, cross-legged next to her on the bed, and Willow was sitting on a chair, beside the bed.

Buffy, come on. Pick an outfit, try it on, and well tell you how hot you look. Willow smiled at Buffy. She could tell Buffy was mega-nervous. Willow also had a date tonight, her first since Taras death. She was still upset, but it had been almost a year since then. She had her magick under control and she was finally ready to date again.

Buffy looked at Willow, worried. What if the night goes completely wrong? What if something really bad happens? What if the whole night is ruined? What if I ruin it?!?! Oh, God! I cant handle this pressure.

Dawn laughed at Buffys nervousness. Dawn stood up, walked in the closet and pulled out a pair of blue jeans and a red t-shirt. How about this? With that pretty silver necklace? And of course, optional stake and cross. Just in case he gets out of line. Dawn giggled.

Buffy and Willow laughed at Dawn. Buffy grabbed a pillow off her bed and threw it at Dawn. That outfit is wrong for tonight. Tonight is a We broke up but I still want you night. Buffy laughed. She stood up went to the closet, and pulled out a pair of blue jeans and a white t-shirt. She laughed, Not much of a difference in outfits. But it makes a statement. Right, Will?

Willow looked at the red shirt and said, I like the red shirt better. She laughed. Buffy looked at her with the look of happiness on her face. Good, Im glad you are choosy Willow tonight, because Im indecisive Buffy. Buffy laughed.

Buffy took the red shirt and the blue jeans and walked into her bathroom. Quickly changing clothes and throwing on the silver cross necklace. She then walked out of the bathroom and modeled her outfit. Willow and Dawn both made cat calls and whistled. Buffy blushed and smiled. She took a bow. Thank you, thank you. She said to Dawn and Willow. She walked over to them both and hugged them, in a great big group hug.

Spike decided it was time to go get Buffy. He threw on his black leather duster and walked to Buffys house. He practically ran there, trying to look as though he was walking. He approached her house, and walked quickly up the stairs. He smiled at the door, almost greeting it as he would any other person. He was happy to be there. He knocked loudly on the front door, hoping that she wouldnt see the nervousness that was in his face.

Willow opened the door. Come on in, Spike. She smiled, noticing he was nervous. Shes upstairs, Shell be down in a minute.

He walked in, smiling at Willow. It was good to see her. Willow had always had a soft spot for Spike, even after he had kidnapped her, when he was bad. Spike had always like the little witch. She had a good heart and a good soul. He looked at Willow for a moment and then hugged her. Willow, its good to see you. He smiled.

Willow looked at him, a little confused, but she welcomed the hug. Its good to see you too, Spike. She backed away a moment and looked at him. You look nice. She laughed. You look nervous. Dont be nervous, because Buffy is as nervous as you are, if even more so.

Spike smiled, he felt like a little kid again. He walked into the living room and sat down on the couch. He watched the stairs, as if they were the last pint of blood, for any vampire to drink. He wished that Buffy would hurry up, he couldnt wait to see her.

Right then, Buffy walked slowly down the stairs. She looked at Spike, smiling. It was good to see him. She was glad he showed up. She was glad he was there. She was glad he wasnt upset with her anymore. She walked over to Spike, looked up into his eyes and said, Hello.

Bloody hell, Slayer. You look. Spike trailed off, looking Buffy up and down.

I look? Could you finish sentences please? Is that a good look or a bad look? Buffy looked at him nervously. Willow had walked upstairs already, leaving them alone. She had nobody to look at but Spike. So she looked at Spike. Hoping that she looked alright.

You look wonderful, SlayerI mean, Buffy. He looked at her, slowly walked up to her and put his arms around her. She was happy to feel his arms around her. He felt it.

Buffy slowly put her arms around his waist, hugging him. She looked up at him, wanting to kiss him, but not wanting to make the first move. She was lucky, because in that moment, Spike looked down and puts his lips to hers. The kiss was short, but it felt like it was forever. She was lost in his kiss.

Spike pulled away, and looked at Buffy, Lets go. Buffy looked at him, questioningly. Go where? She had forgotten all about the Bronze, and the date, and the outfit. She was focused on him, and only him. The Bronze? Spike asked her.

Uh..oh yeah, ok. Lets go. Buffy grabbed her purse, which included a stake, just in case any vamps showed up. She opened the door, yelling up to Dawn and Willow, Im going now, Ill be back later. Bye! She walked out the door with Spike.

They walked in the Bronze and were overwhelmed with the smell of pizza and beer. They heard the music, it was a slow song. Spike looked at Buffy, Would you like to dance with me? he whispered into her ear.

Buffy nodded, she had no words. She felt so beautiful with him around. So wonderful, and loved, like nothing could ever hurt her, ever.

They walked onto the dance floor and Spike slowly put his arms around Buffys waist. She put her head on his shoulder and put her arms around his neck. She was loving every minute of this.

They danced forever, it seemed. Until Buffy decided that she was tired, and it was time to go home. So thats what they did. They walked slowly home.

As they approached the front door, Buffy turned to Spike, Would you like to, um, come in? She asked, hoping he would.

Uh, yes. Spike gulped, he walked in after Buffy. He knew that Willow and Dawn were both asleep. Everything was quiet. He turned to Buffy, and looked at her, not knowing what to do now.

She walked upstairs, motioning for him to follow. They walked upstairs and then walked into her room.

She turned on the light and sat down on her bed. She looked at him, expecting him to sit with her. He did. He looked at Buffy and slowly kissed her.

Buffy looked at Spike and said, Spike, I love you. Spike looked at her, and said, I love you too. Spike lowered Buffy onto the bed and they continued kissing.

Willow walked into to Dawns room, quietly, knowing that Dawn was still awake. Dawn she whispered. They made up. Dawn looked at Willow, Good.
