RATING: PG...maybe PG-13 if you're really sensitive.
SUMMARY: It has to do with Spike and Buffy...other than that I can't say.
DISCLAIMER: I don't own either of the characters. Joss Whedon, the WB and
Fox are the lucky bastards who do. All I own is a large supply of monkey
crack.
NOTE: This is for Dare because she goaded me by saying this: "of course,
you could just pretend that i'm ignoring you and write some b/s :)"

Spike stared into Buffy's blue-green eyes, tracing the curve of her
eyelashes with his gaze. She watched him silently as he studied her, as he
learned the planes of her face. She was beautiful, more beautiful than any
woman he had ever seen. More beautiful even than Drusilla.
The moonlight glinted in the blonde hair which cascaded around her shoulders,
lightly touching the golden skin of her neck and her bare arms. She was dressed
for the Bronze, silvery tank top, black skirt, high heels. Spike ran his
tongue briefly over his lips. She was truly a vision...a Slayer at the top
of her game, in the prime of her life. Glorious.
Gently he traced her cheekbone with his thumb. His lips quirked up into a
smile as he heard her breathing speed up. Her eyes, flicked to the side,
to his hand, then back up to his face. Her eyes were so wide and so very
innocent. He stroked her cheek again.
She was trembling, shaking just the slightest bit. Her eyes tried to hide
all emotion, but her body betrayed her. He realized that he was trembling
too. He hadn't felt this way since, well...ever. Like electricity jolting
through his body, her nearness coursed in his veins.
The moment seemed to stretch, elastic. He could not have said how long they
stood that way. Seconds, but it seemed like hours. Time ceased to exist,
leaving nothing but the two of them. He realized that they had become separate
from everything, that they had become the most important thing in the world.
Eternity paused for them. Time was forced to slow, to stop, because what
they did meant too much. It meant more than the laws of the universe.
This was the way it had to be. It had been inevitable. Everything in their
lives, everything that formed them as beings, everything that influenced
them had been driving them toward this moment. The weight of it struck him
with its depth, its resonance. There was no other way it could end, there
never had been.
He wondered if she was going to say anything. He wondered it he wanted her
to. She said nothing. She only watched him, silent, accusing or accepting?
He wasn't sure which. He decided it was better that way. Not knowing. He
placed his hands on either side of her head, entangling his fingers in her
hair.
He heard her breath catch in her throat, as she held it...waiting.
Then he jerked her head with all his strength, hearing the dull crack of
bone as her neck snapped. Silently he released her body, and she sank to
the ground.
*She may be beautiful,* he thought to himself. *But she's no princess.*
end
Isn't it funny how the moment in which Buffy is waiting to die can be
made to seem like a love scene? Ok, I don't know if funny is the right word...
Well *I* thought it was funny.
Anyway....if you didn't like it blame Dare cause she goaded me into trying
to trick her.
And if you DID like it, of course give me the credit, because I am so
clever. :)

This is pretty neat...Margot Le Faye wrote a sequel
to Inevitable (a really GOOD sequel). So if you don't want the story
to end here....go see
Inevitable
Consequences.
