Opening credits we hear the theme tune- the musical version, and pictures of the cast in a moon, with their names beside it.
Then it's the summers house with Buffy's alarm clock going off, and short clips of everyone getting dressed except for Buffy who's lying in bed. There's no sound here except for Anya-style music.
After that we see Buffy patrol and suddenly she bursts into song, (Going Through the Motions) singing about her slaying and how it makes her feel. The vamps she's slaying join in the singing and dancing.
The next day everyone's at the magic box and Buffy walks in, and asks them 'last night- did anyone burst into song?' they all say they did, Xander says he finds it distubing. Willow and Giles say they should find out what's causing this, when Giles bursts into song about what sort of hell-fiend it is.(I've got a Theory) Willow joins in, then Xander, then Anya comes up with a fabulous semi-rock short song about her bunny fear, and how it could be bunnies. The others look at her strangely. During all this, Dawn steals a necklace from the counter. Buffy sings it doesn't matter what it is because they can face it together and they all join in singing.
Eventually they stop, Anya wonders weather its just them singing, Buffy looks down the street and sees its not.
Willow and Tara slip out under the pretense of looking through books, only they take a walk in the sun. Then Tara sings (I'm Under Your Spell) about how she used to be shy, shes not anymore because Willow helped her and she must be under her spell (not litrally.)
Then we cut to the magic box, and Xander bets Tara and Willow are- then he sees Dawn. Dawn tells them she knows about the stuff, and whats wrong with singing and dancing? The answer to her question is a man dancing out of control in the street at night, with a demon watching him. The man spontaniously combusts from the inside and the demon says 'Now thats entertainment.'
It's now morning, and we're in Xander flat with him and Anya in bed. They're talking about breakfast, when Anya starts singing. Xander joins her and they do a comic routine dancing round the house singing about their fears of marrage. (I'll Never Tell)
Then, when the songs finished, we see Anya and Xander either side of Giles talking at the same time about how bad the singing and dancing is and it's go to be stopped. Giles says he saw an autoposy this morning and that Buffy is finding information from demons right now- cut to Buffy and Spike.
Spike snaps at Buffy telling him he knows nothing and she should go. She doesn't want to and stays. Suddenly he bursts into song and sings to Buffy about his feelings for her and if she doesn't want him she should leave him in peace. Buffy flees the crypt.
Tara is home and looking after Dawn, and Dawn lets slip about the fight Tara had with Willow. Tara doesn't remember anything, and goes to the magic box to look up a spell.
Dawn searches through her stolen things, singing aloud weather anyone notices her, when she is captured by creepy human-looking puppets.
The puppets take her to the empty bronze and do ballet-type dancing with her, leading her to their master. Dawn and 'Sweet' do some blues singing, Sweet about his powers, Dawn about her sister. Sweet tells his minions to get the slayer. 'I wanna see the slayer burn.'
Then we're in the magic box, where Buffy is training with Giles, she makes a comment about being safe with him and he sings to her about standing in her way so she can't deal with the outside world.
In the shop, Tara finds out about Willow's spell on her and her song joins with Giles's and they sing about leaving people they love. Willow remains oblivious.
Spike bursts in through the door with a puppet minion and it tells Buffy that she has to go alone to the bronze. Buffy leaves, and sings alone in the street about how she feels separated from life.
Meanwhile, the others worry about Buffy and take off, following her, and Spike does too, on his own. They all join in song (walk through the fire) until Buffy reaches the bronze.
Dawn persists to Sweet that she didn't summon him, and she's not to go to hell to be his queen. Buffy offers to go in her place, and sings to the demon 'give me something to sing about.' Halfway through the song the others burst in and she finally reveals to them that she was in heaven. Willow looks upset.
Suddenly Buffy is spinning into a frenzy, about to combust when Spike catches her and says 'life isn't bliss, life is just this, it's living.' Buffy slows down with those words.
Xander spills that he summoned the demon, thinking it would be 'fun, songs and dancing and we can beat the demon and make it all better.' Sweet says he will go without his queen this time but they 'beat the bad guy' and dissapears into thin air.
The group sing their last song, Where Do We Go From Here and Spike leaves first, the others still singing, then Buffy catches him in the alley, and they serenade each other, but Buffy, wanting to feel something, kisses Spike on the curtain.
