Rule One.
Walk tough. Talk tough. Be tough.
Buffy: 'I don't think we've been properly introduced. I'm Buffy, and you're..history'.
Buffy: 'I've lost friends tonight, and I may lose more. Now if you have infomation worth hearing then I am grateful for it, if you wanna crack jokes then I will pluck out your ribcage and wear it as a hat.'
Rule Two.
Provide whatever assistance you can, but know your strengths and weaknesses.
Buffy: 'You have to admit, I kinda lack in the book area. You guys are the brains. I'd only be here for moral support.'
Xander: 'That's not true Buffy, you totally contribute. You go for snacks.'
-
Xander: 'So. Okay. Get started, Buffy. Dissect it or something.'
Buffy: 'Dissect it? Why me?'
Xander: 'Because you're the slayer.'
Buffy: 'And I slayed! My work here is done.'
Rule Three.
Be properly respectful about your calling and it's traditions.
Buffy: 'Sacred duty, yadda, yadda, yadda.'
Rule Four.
Keep your cool. Don't let little things like homocidal boyfriends distract you.
Giles: 'I know how hard this is for you. But being the slayer, you do not have the luxury of being a slave to your passions. You musn't let Angel get to you, regardless of how provocative his behaviour may become.'
Giles: 'It should simply be plunge and move on, plunge and move on...'
Rule Five.
Don't be fooled by a lull in slayage. Stake all you want, they'll make more.
Giles: 'When you live atop a mystical convergence, it's only a matter of time before a fresh hell breaks loose. Now is the time you should train more strickly, you should hunt and patrol more keenly, you should hone your skills night and day.'
Giles: 'Just because the paranormal has been more normal, and less...para lately, there is no excuse for tardiness or letting your guard down.'
Rule Six.
Seek a proper balance in your life.
Giles: 'Buffy, when I said you could slay vampires and have a social life, I didn't mean at the same time!'
