J. August Richards Biography

Street-smart and set on defending his Los Angeles neighborhood from vampires, Charles Gunn (who most-often goes by just Gunn) was unable to save his sister from their bloodsucking clutches.

In walks Angel, a vampire with a soul. Can he really help make a difference in this war against evil? When Gunn joined Angel Investigations everyone wanted to know where this new face came from... his name is J. August Richards.

Nicknamed "Jay," J. August Richards' birth name is actually Jaime Augusto Richards III. Born in Washington, D.C. to Panamanian parents, he shortened the name early on to make it easier to pronounce. He discovered his love of acting early on, enrolling in a performing arts high school and acting in serveral plays a year. With a strong academic record and a desire to pursue his acting dreams, he applied to only one college, the University of Southern California. He was accepted and even earned many scholarships and grants for theater.

Jay began his career with TV guest-starring roles in the early '90s, landing parts on "Family Matters," "Clueless" and "Diagnosis Murder."

He continued with guest spots as well as entered feature films with roles in "Good Burger" and "Why Do Fools Fall In Love."

In his free time, Jay paints and studies astronomy. He also travels to his parents' native country, Panama, as well as other locations in Central America. He currently lives in Los Angeles.
