Some days, it just pays to get out of bed. Over on Whedonesque, Joss has posted a big set of updates and some really, really cool pieces of news.
First up, Dark Horse will be starting up a whole new Buffy comic book, the first arc written by Joss himself. With the ongoing Angel and Spike books over at IDW, we’re going to be cookin’ in the Buffyverse again. Remember, folks, we got three new Star Wars movies AND two TV series out of three books and a comics anthology. Here’s part of the post:
Speaking of Darkhorse Comics, they are starting a new Buffy comic, and as I understand it, it will take place after the end of Buffy and Angel and be canon in the Buffy world. And I understand it that way 'cause I'M WRITING IT. I'm kicking off the book with a four issue arc that finds Buffy -- you guessed it -- living in Italy with The Immortal.
Second up, and on the comics side (hey, I know I write the comics stuff, so you’ll be seeing it a lot here when I do updates), a new three-part Serenity comic may be on the way. If it’s as good as the first one, all will be shiny.
Three, the Spike movie will probably be moving forward soon. Sounds like the Amazon has Joss pinned right now.
Finally, and probably the most intriguing of them all, is the following statement:
See, the Buffyverse glows in my brain with a new, overreaching arc that will include the comics, Spike, and more. It's taking shape and soon you will know its name. And you will tremble.
This is twice that Joss has made a statement about something new coming from the Buffyverse. You know, it’s probably just wishful thinking on my part, but I think that some time in the near future, we’re going to see a fresh new Hellmouth open up.
