Synopsis
The Short: In the second of a four part series Angel must do everything in his power to protect Darla and their unborn child when Wolfram & Hart launches a full attack to take mother and baby, in addition to a vampire cult who believe the baby is The Miracle Child.
The Long: After a ''Previously on Angel'' segment we open in 1764 York, England as Holtz and his men think they have found a house where Angelus and Darla are hiding (see Continuity #1 and Reference #1). Meanwhile Angelus and Darla arrive at Holtz home and get his daughter to invite them in. As Holtz discovers a note saying he can't even protect his own family Darla and Angelus are draining his daughter and wife. Holtz races to save his family as Darla and Angelus talk about who should kill the baby that is crying. Holtz arrives to find his wife dead. In the present Angel walks in and feels the baby in Darla, as Darla sleeps in his room. Darla wakes and asks which of them should kill this baby. (Listen to the teaser here.)
Unfinished.
Creature Feature
We get another glimpse of the psychics employed by Wolfram & Hart. They appear to be a variety of humans and demons. Wolfram & Hart has a demon resources department. They have branches in Berlin, Singapore, Muncie and the Balkans.
Sahjhan employs a gang of Grappler demons. Grappler demons appear enormously strong and have long tusks. One of them is named Flarmar.
Cool Quotes
- Fred: ''You freaks make one move and I'll slice the miracle kid into triplets.''
Cordelia: ''It's always the quiet ones.''
Vampire: ''Wait!''
Fred: ''They don't know the knife can't hurt the baby.''
Darla: ''They do now. Vampires have great hearing. Here we go.''
Well, it was a good idea. Better luck next time Fred. Listen to the quote here.

York is...
- Sahjhan: ''I know it seems like only a moment to you, but two hundred and twenty seven years have passed since our agreement. Empires have risen and fallen. Mankind has harnessed the power of the sun, walked on the moon, and turned arid desserts into fields of green.''
Harnessing the power of the sun is probably a reference to the invention of the atom bomb.
Walking on the moon...
- Sahjhan: ''Yes. It went through a rough patch about sixty years ago, but it's mostly unchanged. Warm beer, boiled meat, bad teeth. That's why I moved to L.A. Have you followed this part of the history? American Revolution, manifest destiny, westward expansion, the Beach Boys?''
The rough patch England went through about 60 years ago is probably...

- Linwood: ''Oh, god. If they've heard about this in Berlin, Singapore and Muncie can't be far behind. Now listen, if the Senior Partners are looking to assign blame, the buck stops here, you understand me?''
Berlin is...
Singapore is...
Muncie is...
- Gunn: ''Human as is in humanoid? As in cannibalistic humanoid underground dwellers?''
Gunn obviously has seen the 1984 horror film C.H.U.D. which featured cannibalistic humanoid underground dwellers.
- Lilah: ''Gentlemen, may I introduce Doctor Fetvanovich from our satellite office in the Balkans.''
The Balkans are...
- Darla: ''Sorry, darling. I'm gonna have to be Switzerland and sit this one out. Now, you did say you were just gonna kill the humans, right?''
Switzerland is...
- Angel: ''Vegas? Sorry, Gunn, too high profile, but I agree we need to get out of Dodge.''
Las Vegas is a city of southeast Nevada near the California and Arizona borders. It is a major tourist center known for its casinos. Also referenced by Buffy in Surprise, Gunn in Heartthrob and Fred in Fredless.

Continuity
- Wesley: ''Previously on Angel.''
Reprise - Angel has sex with Darla.
The Offspring - Wesley speaks of the Niazian prophecies. Darla arrives at Angel Investigations pregnant. Cordelia asks how Darla is feeling, and Darla attacks her. Angel vows to kill her. Angel learns the baby has a soul. Fred says the Tro-clon is arriving now. Holtz wakes up and wants to know where Angelus is.
Disharmony - Cordelia imagines what would happen if Angel slept with Darla. Angel says he would never do that.
- Cyril: ''Remember those exterminators he sent to Angel's hotel? They don't kill bugs. They plant them.''
That Vision Thing - Someone sent exterminators to Angel Investigations.
- Gavin: ''Blackmail? No one cares. From what I've hear, bumping uglies with an old man that body-jumped into a vampire is the closest thing you've had to a meaningful relationship in years.''
Carpe Noctem - Lilah got drunk and almose had sex with Marcus, who had taken over Angel's body.
Goofs
- There is a problem with the transcripts the tech guy gave Gavin. He claims that the book he hands Gavin are everything up to last week. Lilah then reads about Darla showing up pregnant in the book, but the scene he's transcribing on the computer is before Darla arrived in L.A. Therefore he can't have given Gavin a book of everything up to last week.
Trivia
The Morgue
- Sarah Holtz: In her home, drained by Darla.
- Caroline Holtz: In her home, drained by Angelus.
- Anonymous psychic: In the offices of Wolfram & Hard, choked to death at the order of Linwood.
- Anonymous Grappler demon: In the Gym, neck snapped by Flamar.
- Anonymous assassin: In the hospital, pounced on by vampire cultists.
- Anonymous vampire cultist: In the hospital, staked by Wesley.
- Anonymous vampire cultist: In the hospital, staked by Angel.
- Anonymous commando: Outside Angel Investigations, sliced open by Holtz.
Note: It is implied that in the flashback Darla or Angelus killed Holtz's baby off camera. Burke, Doctor Fetvanovich and at least six commandos are killed off camera in the Hyperion Lobby, presumably by Holtz and possibly his Grappler demons.

Points Of View
Mathew:
I liked Fred in this episode. Too bad this was mostly filler. I wish they could fill us in a little more on that cool assassin guy.
