Synopsis
The Short: From the WB11 home
page: Angel pays a visit to the PTB (Powers That Be) and begs them to
return Doyle. They refuse and when he protests that he no longer has access
to the visions, they reply that when a door closes, another one opens.
Meanwhile, a schwarmy telepathic demon named Barney approaches Angel
Investigations for help, claiming that he is being followed by a
demon-assassin. Later that day, Cordelia is in the middle of an audition,
and receives a vision. She soon realizes there was more to Doyle's kiss than
she originally thought. Assuming that she can be rid of the visions by
kissing someone else, she kisses Angel, and the new client. After a brief
interview with Barney, Angel visits his apartment to see if he can learn
anything. While he is there, he encounters Wesley, a Watcher he had briefly
known in Sunnydale. Wesley was kicked out of the Watcher's Council and is
now a rogue-demon hunter in hot pursuit of a dangerous and powerful demon.
They soon discover that the demon that was most recently attacked by the
killer is of Asian origin. Angel heads over to Koreatown to get more
information and Wesley later joins him. After speaking to the dying demon,
they deduce that Barney is involved, and Cordelia is in danger. Meanwhile,
Barney kidnaps Cordelia and bids her visionary powers at an auction. When
the deal goes to the highest bidder, Cordelia's fate is to have her eyes
gouged out. Moments before the first incision, Angel and Wesley rush in and
save the day. The next morning, Angel invites Wesley for breakfast. Is
Wesley here to stay?
Correction: Technically Angel didn't visit the PTB's and ask for
Doyle back, he visited the Oracles and asked them to turn back time so he
could get him back. Barney was empathic, not telepathic.
The Long: After a ''Previously on Angel'' segment (see Continuity #1) we open on Angel trying to talk to Oracles into folding time so he can save Doyle. They refuse and send him away, saying a new door will open. Elsewhere we see a pink skinned demon with pointy ears and small horns running in an alley, as he is being chased by a biker in a helmet and leather jacket. (Listen to the teaser here.)
Unfinished.
Creature Feature
We see the Oracles again in this episode. This time they refuse to help
Angel, and tell him that wanting them turn back time to save Doyle is
selfish.
Barney calls himself an Empath demon, who strangely enough is empathic.
He can read emotions of those nearby. He has ruddy skin, 4 small horns
and pointed ears and nose.
The Kungai demon is an oriental demon with a Tak horn on it's head. This
horn can drain the life out of opponents. The demon is yellow in color and
seems to be able to stick to walls. It is described as very deadly and
powerful.
A reptilian demon is seen in the Korean sauna. It speaks but nothing is
known about what it is.
There is mention of several human and demons with various powers who were
killed, including those with poison tongues, healing hands and telepathy.
A number of the guests at the auction don't seem to be human, but no real
details were apparent.
Cool Quotes
- Barney: ''Call me Barney. First off you should know right away before there is any misunderstanding... I'm a demon.''
Angel: ''I appreciate the candor.''
We have a new candidate for Mister States-The-Obvious. Listen to the quote here.
- Barney: ''You're frustrated.''
Cordelia: ''That's one spooky talent you got there. You can just look at me grinding my teeth, sighing, grunting and sense that I'm frustrated? Amazing!''
Gotta agree with her there. Listen to the quote here.

- Wesley is driving a Big Dog brand motorcycle. They have an official
web site at http://www.bigdogmotorcycles.com/.
- Barney: ''I don't think he's tracking me down to tell me that
I've won the Publisher's Clearing House.''
The Publisher's Clearing House is a sweepstakes, where winners of large
prizes are informed in person by surprise visits. They have an official web
site at http://www.pch.com/.
- Barney: ''Uh, hey, man, I never said I was a Boy
Scout.''
The Boy Scouts of America were chartered by the U.S. Congress in 1916 to
provide an educational program for boys and young adults to build character,
train in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develop
personal fitness. They have an official web site at http://www.bsa.scouting.org/.

- Cordelia: ''Doyle! I thought our kiss meant something, and
instead he, he used that moment to pass it on to me! Why couldn't it have
been mono or herpes?''
Mononucleosis, often referred to as mono, is a very common viral illness.
About 90 percent of people over age 35 have antibodies to mono in their
blood, which means that they have been infected with it, probably during
early childhood. When mono strikes young children, the illness is usually so
mild that it passes as a common cold or the flu. When it occurs during
adolescence or adulthood, however, the disease can be much more serious.
Herpes is and of a number of viruses from the family Herpesviridae, commonly associated with human diseases like herpes simplex.
- Wesley: ''For what purpose I can only guess. The fiend has cut a swath across half the continent. Almost caught up with it in Phoenix. Got a pretty fair look, too.''
Phoenix, Arazona has it's own web site at http://ci.phoenix.az.us/.
- Cordelia: ''I hope you like your coffee black,
because the only lightener the boss has in his refrigerator is O
positive.''
O positive is one of several types of human blood, people with this type
of blood make up about 37 percent of the human population.
- Cordelia: ''Well, thanks for that insight, Mr. Emotional
radar.''
The name radar has been derived from the initial letters of the phrase RAdio
Detecting And Ranging. It denotes a method of scanning the surrounding space
by means of high-frequency radio waves which are sent out from a powerful
transmitter and are reflected by any objects which they encounter. The
reflected beam is picked up by a receiver; its strength and direction gives
information on the size, distance, altitude, etc. of the object.
- Barney: ''All righty then...''
This saying was made famous by Jim Carrey's character Ace
Ventura in the 1994 comedy film Ace Ventura Pet Detective. Plot: To be a Pet Detective, you have to understand both the criminals and animals. Ace Ventura goes even further... He behaves like a criminal animal. When a football team's mascot (a dolphin) is stolen just before the Superbowl, Ace Ventura is put on the case. Now, who would want to steal a dolphin, and why?
Continuity
- Angel: ''Previously on Angel.''
Hero - Doyle asks how Angel could have given
up all he ever wanted. Doyle has a vision. Doyle punches Angel, kisses
Cordelia, stops the beacon and dies.
Lonely Hearts - Cordelia asks what's with those
visions he has.
- Male Oracle: ''You try our patience. What is done...''
Angel: ''...can not be undone, you keep saying that, but I need
Doyle. You can fold time, you've done it before. Bring him back.''
I Will Remember You - Angel first met the
Oracles and they turned time back for him.
- Barney: ''I'm sensing a little performance anxiety here.
Little trick, picture everybody...''
Cordelia: ''In their underwear.''
Puppet Show - The underwear advice was given to Cordelia
before she went on stage for her school talent show by Rupert Giles.
This advice was also given to Kate by Angel in Sense
and Sensitivity.
- Wesley: ''Good Lord, Cordelia? Angel never mentioned. Well,
this is nice.''
Graduation Day Part 2 - Angel and
Cordelia both last saw Wesley during her graduation from high school.
That was when she and Wesley first and last kissed.
- Barney: ''Sold for 30,000 to the lovely lawyer from Wolfram &
Hart.''
Sense & Sensitivity - Wolfram & Hart were last
seen when Lee Mercer was representing Little Tony when Angel caught Tony for
the police.
I Fall To Pieces - The law firm of Wolfram & Hart
was last mentioned when we discovered they were lawyers for Doctor Ronald
Meltzer.
City Of - Wolfram & Hart were the lawyers for
the vampire Russell Winters.

Points Of View
Mathew:
Man I miss Doyle. Doyle and Cordelia seemed so good together. Wesley was never one of my favorites, first he walks in and tries to replace Rupert, then Xander, now Doyle. He's a constant replacement character. Barney was refreshing, evil, but not just physically threatening, just cleaver and greedy.
