Not Supposed To (1/1)
by Samantha McCullah
"May I have this dance?" The words were spoken naturally, like there was
nothing wrong with him asking, but when Buffy turned to glare at him,
Spike knew he shouldn't have.
"What do you want?" she hissed, looking around the Bronze for her friends,
for anyone. Not seeing anyone she knew could, or would, save her, she
settle for glaring at him. He squirmed slightly under its intensity.
"C'mon, Slayer, a truce. Just for one dance. I promise not to bite...,"
he trailed off, smirking at her, then bent down to her ear. "Hard," he
whispered. She blushed slightly, and Spike watched her hand slide to
the small of her back for her stake. He grabbed her arm and pinned
it at her side. "Ah, ah, pet, no weapons."
Buffy twisted her arm out of his grasped, then sighed, "Fine," before
stalking out onto the dance floor. Spike smiled slightly before
following her out onto the floor. Just as they reached the center of the
floor, the pulsating rock song that had been playing before, stopped
and was replaced by the slow strains of another.
Love sometimes
Can be like Destiny....
There's no way to say forever
May not realize your dreams
Spike slid his arms around her waist and rubbed her back trying to get her
to relax. But as his hands started kneading her back, her hands clamped
down onto his wrists.
"Pretend my body is a globe. You're hands don't go south or north of the
equator. Got it?" she ordered, placing his hands on her waist. She glared
up at him.
"Anything you say, pet," he whispered and began to move to the music.
And love sometimes
Is like the blowin' wind
It can take us to wherever
Sending us on silent wings
"So, Spike, how long have you been out of the wheelchair?" Buffy asked,
trying to make small talk.
Spike gave her a small smile, before he replied, "Didn't think you noticed."
"How could I not?" Buffy responded without thinking. Then she blushed,
realizing the implications of her words. "I, uh, I mean, um, never mind,"
she stammered, trying to look anywhere but at him. <She almost looked
cute right then. Gah, what am I sayin'?> Spike thought.
But I have broken
All the rules of love...
I never dreamed that
I could come this far....
As they swayed with the music, and without either's knowledge, the distance
between them diminished, until their bodies were touching. Spike's arms
completely encircle the Slayer as she clutched his shoulders. Her head
rested comfortably against his chest, her breathe scalding across him.
As she moved, her body pressed closer to him, causing his body to react
in the typical male fashion. He moaned softly, and Buffy glanced up at
him, questions in her eyes. Then he did the unexpected.
His head bent down, he captured her lips with his own.
And now I'm lost in my emotions
You're becoming my devotion
There's nothing I can do
To stop this love for you...
At first she resisted, trying to push away from him, but not trying very
hard. Finally, she relented and leaned into the kiss, parting her lips in
an invitation. Spike took the invite and pressed his tongue into her mouth.
They stopped dancing as his tongue met hers, sending tingles of...something
through both their bodies.
One of his hands entwined with Buffy's hair, pressing her deeper into the
kiss as his tongue left her mouth. But Buffy wasn't to be denied. She
stabbed her tongue into his mouth.
The kiss got deeper as their hands roamed each other's bodies.
I was not supposed to
Fall in love with you
I have someone else....
Someone else is loving you
Finally, they both broke the kiss with a strangled moan. Buffy stared up
at him, conflicting emotions surging through her eyes and was surprised
to find those same emotion in Spike's eyes.
"Spike?"
"Hmm?"
"Get your hand off my butt," she growled, pushing him away from her
violently. He slammed into a another pair of dancers, knocking them to
the floor along with him. Buffy glared at him then stared up at the
crowd that was staring in return at the scene. She cursed under
her breath before grabbing her coat and stormed out of the Bronze.
Spike pushed himself off the floor and, brushing of his clothing, he
smiled apologetically up at the crowd. "Women," he offered, before
following the Slayer out of the Bronze.
<What the hell is wrong with me?> he questioned as he caught up with
her outside of the club. "Slayer!" he shouted; she stopped but didn't
turn around. "Buffy!" he shouted again, running up behind her. He caught
her arm and dragged her into an alley.
"What the hell happened?" she growled at him.
"Like I know?" he replied.
"Well, you enjoyed it!"
"Who wouldn't?" Even outside the Bronze they could still here the song
faintly playing.
And I was not supposed to
Let this love get through
(let love get through)
So let me say for real....
Heaven's what I feel
When I'm with you...
"Damn you," she hissed.
"Too late," he smirked. Buffy watched him closely for a few seconds, before
sighing and pushing past him towards the alley entrance. Before she could
get past him, Spike grabbed her arm and pulled her to him. "Whatever happened,
I liked it, pet."
Buffy stared up into his eyes and was surprised once again by what she
found there.
How could I have
Known that in your eyes
I would find the deepest answer
To the questions of my heart
"Why did you come here tonight?" she asked, when Spike relaxed his grip.
"I was hunting." Buffy looked away disgusted. "Don't give me that, Slayer.
Its what I am."
"Then you'll forgive me if I be myself," she commented.
"What?" In reply, Buffy slammed her knee upwards into his stomach. As Spike
doubled over, Buffy pulled out the stake at the small of her back. As she
brought it up to plunge it into his heart, he pivoted and grabbed her
wrist.
He pulled her back to his chest. "Do you feel that, Slayer?" he hissed.
Buffy felt it, felt his arousal. "That's what you do to me."
And how could I have known
That by your side
Was the light to fill the darkness
And the shadows of my life
Buffy struggled against him, trying to push away, but his grip just
got tighter. Then he twirled her around and embedded his hand in her
hair. He tugged back sharply causing her to emit small yelp of pain.
Then his mouth found hers in a fierce kiss, and his tongue plundered
her mouth. Against her better wishes and instincts, she began to respond
to the kiss and returned it with the same fierceness.
And now I'm lost in my emotion
You're becoming my devotion
There's nothing I can do
To stop this love for you...
Spike broke the kiss with a loud moan and pushed Buffy away from him. She
landed in a heap by wall, breathing heavy. He growled softly, his vampire
face on the surface; he glared at her for a few seconds before turning
and striding out of the alley.
Buffy slid up the wall, watching him go. She was all too aware of her own
reaction to him and to the feelings coursing through her body that she hadn't
felt since Angel. She rubbed her lips, which still stung from the force of
his kiss.
Heaven is what I feel
When were together
Just look in my eyes and
You'll see it's the truth....
"Damn him," she muttered, as she left the alley and headed home.

Spike's lips still tasted like her, and his nose was still filled with her
scent. He hurried down the street, trying to forget everything that had
happened, trying to forget her. His own hunger was forgotten as he remembered
the feel of her in his arms.
He, too, was aware of his reactions to her, but he knew better than to act
on them. He always had tonight, no matter how hard he tried to forget.
And I was not supposed to
Let this love get through
So let me say for real....
Heaven's what I feel
When I'm with you......
"Damn her," he hissed as he crawled into the window of his room in the
mansion.
